    • An optical multi-ring network for burst data communication is disclosed. The multi-ring network includes a plurality of optical single-ring networks (201,202,203,204) having a plurality of optical add/drop routers connected with each other through fiber links, and a core optical router (100) for supporting communication between the optical single-ring networks. The core optical router includes a wavelength division demultiplexing section for demultiplexing optical signals received from the each single-ring network and outputting the demultiplexed optical signals as channels whose wavelengths are different from each other; a branching section for branching off and outputting a portion of each channel; and a switching section for switching each channel to a path directed to the destination of each channel according to a first control signal.

    • PURPOSE: A passive optical network of a CDMA method using a multi-carrier is provided to transmit data without a complicated MAC protocol by using the CDMA method as an upstream transmission method. CONSTITUTION: A passive optical network of a CDMA method using a multi-carrier includes a plurality of ONU(Optical Network Unit)/ONTs(Optical Network Terminals), an OLT(Optical Line Terminal), and an optical coupler. The ONU/ONTs(21) use a CDMA method for transmitting data to the OLT and use an Ethernet method for receiving data from the OLT. The OLT is used for receiving the data of the CDMA method from the ONU/ONTs and transmitting the data of the Ethernet method to the ONU/ONTs. The optical coupler(25) is used for coupling optical signals of the CDMA method, transmitting the coupled signals to the OLT and distributing optical signals of the Ethernet method to the ONU/ONTs.

A first multiplexer(34) is used for performing a WDM multiplexing process for the user data and transmitting the multiplexed data to the OLT.

Optical couplers(40) couple outputs of the wavelength demultiplexers(30) with path monitoring information generated by a path monitoring information generator. Optical switches(50) switch optical signals coupled in the optical couplers(40) according to pre-set switching information. Wavelength multiplexers(60) receive signals transmitted from the optical switches(50) and multiplex them. Optical circulators(70) detect path monitoring wavelength from path monitoring information-coupled data outputted from the wavelength multiplexers(60). Optical receivers(80) convert the path monitoring wavelength detected from optical circulators(70) into an electric signal. Optical fiber grids(90) generate output 1 to output N. The ith frequency and time slot detector(150) detects the ith frequency and a tie slot from the electric signal. A comparator(140) compares previously stored routing/switching information and calculated movement path monitoring information. If a path has an error, a switching controller(130) corrects the error by controlling switching of the optical switches(50).
