    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately monitor deformations at low costs.
      SOLUTION: This deformation monitoring system comprises both an OTDR measuring device capable of measuring the amount of displacement according to the attenuance of the quantity of back scattering light due to optical loss of an optical fiber and a light sensor part in which one end of the optical fiber is connected to a cableway such as a wire extended to a region to be monitored. A part of the optical sensor part or of the optical fiber is passed through a measuring cabinet to form at least a single loop in the cabinet, and the diameter of the loop of the optical fiber is reduced when a cable is pulled by displacement of the cableway. The amount of optical loss passed through the optical fiber is thereby gradually made greater according to the degree of reduction in the diameter of the loop. Since it is possible to accurately monitor the amount of displacement of a part, an object of displacement measurement, by measuring the attenuated quantity of back scattering light with the OTDR measuring device, it is possible to highly accurately monitor deformations with the passage of time even if the deformation monitoring system has a simple structure.
