摘要： Laser-aided operation equipment for carrying out operation in the blood vessel using laser. In an intravascular laser-aided operation equipment, the interior of the blood vessel is displayed by an image device based on the output light from a catheter (1) that is inserted in the body, and the diseased part is irradiated with a laser beam from a laser device (2) to effect therapy. The catheter (1) is equipped with both an image transmission path (11) for transmitting the image in the blood vessel and a laser guide path (14) for guiding the laser beam to the diseased part in the blood vessel, and is further equipped with a drive controller (7) that controls the whole system. The laser device (2) is suitably driven based on the endoscopic image and the result of spectral analysis to emit the laser beam. Therefore, the therapy is carried out while making sure the diagnostic condition at all times without the need of replacing the fibers.

摘要： The basic material for optical fiber is manufactured by preparing a tubular glass body having a distribution of refractive indexes formed axisymmetrically around its center axis, preparing separately a columnar body having a distribution of refractive indexes formed symmetrically around its center axis by the VAD method, forming said columnar body by drawing into an elongated bar having a diameter of a predetermined size, inserting thereafter said elongated bar into said tubular glass to be fused therewith, forming thereby an integrated body. From said basic material for optical fiber manufactured as described above, an optical fiber having a distribution of refractive indexes of high accuracy and causing zero dispersion in a band of 1.5 mum can be manufactured. According to this manufacturing method, an optical fiber having a complex distribution pattern of refractive indexes can be easily manufactured.

摘要： The present invention relates to an optical transmission system having a structure to enable signal transmission while maintaining superior transmission characteristics over a broader wavelength band. Signal light outputted from a signal light source has a positive chirp, and propagates through a transmission line fiber to an optical receiver, after being Ramanamplified by a lumped Raman amplifier. The lumped Raman amplifier includes, as a Raman amplification fiber, a high-nonlinearity fiber having a negative chromatic dispersion at a wavelength of the signal light and intentionally generating a self-phase modulation therein. The positive chirp of the signal light propagatinq through the high-nonlinearity fiber is effectively compensated by both of the negative chromatic dispersion and the self-phase modulation generated in the high-nonlinearity fiber.

摘要： A novel humanized immunoglobulin reacting specifically with a Fas ligand and active fragments thereof are provided and a region on a Fas ligand which is important in inhibiting apoptosis induced by cells with Fas expression on the basis of the Fas-Fas ligand interaction is clarified. The novel humanized immunoglobulin and active fragments thereof are prepared by the recombinant DNA techniques from hybridomas which produce a monoclonal antibody reacting specifically with a Fas ligand. This immunoglobulin can inhibit physiological reactions between a Fas ligand and Fas, typified by apoptosis. By specifying the region participating in the induction of apoptosis on a Fas ligand, there have been constructed recombinant proteins and peptides which react specially with the amino acids contained in this region to thereby inhibit apoptosis and are thus applicable to novel remedies, clinical diagnostic drugs, etc.
