摘要： The present invention is directed to a method and system that separates first particles from second particles, or white blood cells from red blood cells, by sedimentation in a fluid chamber with debulking of one of the first or second particles or red blood cells through the inlet of the fluid chamber. The method and system further includes fractionation of the remaining particles or white blood cells into selected subsets. In one embodiment of the instant invention a blood product containing white blood cells is loaded in a separation chamber, a diluting or sedimenting agent is added to encourage rouleaux formation of any red blood cells, the cells are sedimented and the red blood cells are removed.

摘要： The invention is a method for separating a volume of whole blood contained in a separation bag (1) into at least three components. The method includes centrifuging the separation bag (1) so as to separate the blood into a first inner layer or plasma, a second intermediate layer of platelets, a third intermediate layer of lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes, and a fourth outer layer of red blood cells, and wherein at least.the third and fourth layers partially overlap. The method further includes transferring the plasm component into a plasma component bag (2) connected to the separation bag (1) and transferring a mononuclear cell component, wherein the component is one of at least a fraction of the third layer of lymphocytes and monocytes, into a mononuclear cell component bag (3a).

The rotor comprises a turntable (35) for supporting a separation bag (1) and a central compartment (34) for containing satellite bags connected to the separation bag (1). The central compartment is fitted with a support member (87) for supporting at least one satellite bag (2, 3) so that a liquid contained in the supported satellite bag (2, 3) drains from the supported satellite bag (2, 3) into the separation bag (1) under centrifugation forces when the rotor (32, 33, 34, 35) is set in rotation.

摘要： A system for separating a composite fluid into component parts thereof, including: a centrifuge having a rotor with aseparation space and at least two valve members disposed thereon and a container set having a separation container adapted to be disposed in the separation space of the rotor and first and second collection containers connected to the separation container by a first and a second tubes. The tubes are adapted to be disposed in operative relationship with the valve members so that flow through the tubes may be controlled thereby. Three components of the composite fluid may be separated therefrom by the present system and two components may be moved to the collection containers. The container set may further include a third collection container connected to the separation container by a tube, and a third component may thus be moved to this third container.

This centrifugal separation system (10) includes at least a centrifugal rotor (12) which has a composite fluid containment area, a fluid flow channel/tubing (18) and at least one separated component collection area defined therein. A composite fluid to be separated is delivered to the fluid containment area where under centrifugal forces the composite fluid is separated into components and then from which a component travels through an outlet channel to a respective separated component fluids flowing therethrough. A centrally disposed pump (14) is also provided to move the separated component(s) to the collection area(s). Optical sensing of the interface of the separated fluid components may be used with a clamp to stop flow. A disposable bag and tubing system is also disclosed for use with reusable rotor devices.
