摘要： The present disclosure generally relates to a Wheatstone bridge that includes a plurality of resistors comprising dual free layer (DFL) TMR structures. The DFL TMR structures include one or more hard bias structures on the side of DLF. Additionally, one or more soft bias structures may also be present on a side of the DFL. Two resistors will have identical hard bias material while two other resistors will have hard bias material that is identical to each other, yet different when compared to the first two resistors. The hard bias materials will provide opposite magnetizations that will provide opposite bias fields that result in two different magnetoresistance responses for the DFL TMR.

摘要： Apparatus and methods for protecting in-flight data during a fundamental reset of a SSD by a connected host are presented, In embodiments, a controller for the SSD includes an input interface configured to receive commands from the host over a link, and processing circuitry coupled to the input interface. The processing circuitry is configured to, in response to receiving a reset command from the host, reset the link and an address space of the SSD, complete a flush of in-flight data from temporary buffers to non-volatile storage of the SSD, and, during an initialization sequence performed by the host, perform an internal reset. In embodiments, in response to the SSD performing the internal reset, the host's state of the SSD is reset, and the host is caused to re-initialize the link and configure the address space of the SSD.

摘要： A heat‑assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) disk drive uses a semiconductor laser mounted on a slider to deliver light to a near-field transducer (NFT) via a waveguide located inside the slider. The waveguide includes a core and cladding material that is transparent to the laser light and surrounds the core. Layers of stray light absorption material are located inside the slider on opposite edges of the waveguide core in the same plane as the core and on opposite sides of the waveguide core in planes spaced from the plane of the core. Portions of the waveguide cladding material are located between the waveguide core and the stray light absorption layers. The stray light absorption layers absorb light that leaks into the cladding material and substantially reduces stray light reflected to the laser to prevent undesirable laser power fluctuation.
