    • Aqueous electrophoretic enamels containing cathodically precipitable synthetic resins are characterised in that they contain a reaction product (A) and a free radical-forming polymerisation initiator (B). The reaction product (A) is prepared by reacting (a) a polyisocyanate or a mixture of polyisocyanates with (b) an organic compound which contains per molecule at least one ethylenically unsaturated double bond and at least one active hydrogen atom and at least one tertiary amino group and/or at least one ketimine and/or aldimine group or a mixture of such organic compounds and if required (d) an organic compound different from (b) and (c) which contains per molecule at least one active hydrogen atom or a mixture of such organic compounds. The volume ratio between the reaction partners is such that 3 to 80 % of the NCO groups of component (a) react with component (b), 3 to 80 % of the NCO groups of component (a) react with component (c) and 0 to 94% of the NCO groups of component (a) react with component (d). The thus obtained reaction product is dispersed in water. Before, during and after dispersion, at least 5% of the tertiary and/or primary amino groups contained in the reaction product are neutralised with a Brönsted acid.

    • The invention concerns a method of producing structured coatings on plastic surfaces using coating agents based on hydroxy-group-containing binders and polyisocyanates and also using powder-form structuring agents. The method is characterized in that first a solution of the hydroxy-group-containing binder (I) is mixed with an elastic matt paste (A) containing (a1) 12 to 25 % by wt. of a saturated hydroxy-group-containing polyester with a hydroxy number of 100 to 160 mg of KOH/g and a mean molecular weight of 800 to 2500; (a2) 1 to 4 % by wt. of a hydroxy-group-containing cardura-modified acrylate copolymer with a hydroxy number of 30 to 250 mg of KOH/g and an acid number of 0 to 50 mg of KOH/g; (a3) 0 to 3 % by wt. of cellulose esters; (a4) 35 to 60 % by wt. of organic solvents; (a5) 12 to 25 % by wt. of matting agents plus, optionally, catalysts, cross-linking agents and optionally other auxiliaries and additives, the weights of the components of the elastic matt paste (A) adding up to 100 % by wt., the elastic matt paste (A) optionally being screened before or after being mixed with the solution of the hydroxy-group-containing binder (I). The mixture is subsequently mixed with polyisocyanates (II) acting as cross-linking agents, optionally with other organic solvents and with the powder-form structuring agent. The coating composition thus obtained is applied to the plastic substrate and the coating dried.
