摘要： An information storage and retrieval system has a storage medium, a read device and a write device. The system uses light to transmit signals between the storage medium and the read, the write devices. And it is capable of both read and write operations. The storage medium has a substrate with a number of cells of empty spaces in it. The cell has an ablative material deposited on its wall. The pattern of distribution determines the information stored. To read information, a light beam is directed towards a cell and the transmitted light is detected by a sensor. To write information, the ablative material is vaporized and redistributed inside the cell by high intensity light beam. The storage medium can also be used to store visual images directly by having cells and pigment plates arranged regularly in a substrate.

摘要： The apparatus includes a record member with a thermally sensitive recording surface and a thermal stylus (6) deflected by any type movement responsive to an analog signal. A stylus heating element heats up in response to a voltage (E o ) representing the absolute value of the signal amplitude rate of change. The stylus' thermal time constant nearly equals the minimum signal rise and fall times. Preheating the stylus (6) avoids gaps and dark portions in the trace. Thus the signal rate of change must be anticipated so that the stylus (6) is already at the desired temperature when it is deflected by the signal. Therefore delay means (8) are provided in the deflection circuit, the delay being a direct function of said stylus' thermal time constant. The analog signal can also be converted to digital form and handled digitally prior to recording.

摘要： In an automatic recording instrument having a thermal recording-pen to record on a heat sensitive recording-paper, an operational amplifier output supplies the heating current to the thermal pen through a resistor. A non-linear transfer element receives the output voltage of the amplifier and delivers a voltage having a predetermined non-linear relation to its input. The voltage difference between the output of the non-linear transfer element and the junction point of the thermal pen to the resistor is feedback connected to the input of the amplifier. When the relative velocity between the pen and the paper is increased, the input voltage of the amplifier is increased to increase the output voltage, and when the output voltage is increased, the resistance of the thermal pen is increased, to balance to the output of the non-linear transfer element for reducing the input to the amplifier. This means that the heated temperature of the thermal pen is raised when the pen moves faster on the paper and a constant thickness of the recording is maintained in a wide range of the relative velocity between the pen and the paper.
