摘要： For efficient waxing of the running surface of a workpiece such as a snowboard, one or more skis, or a toboggan, the invention provides a single wax-heating element in the form of an elongate flexible sheet sized to fully cover the running surface when upside down and horizontally oriented. The single sheet of the heating element also provides articulating connection between an array of like transverse elements which gravitationally load the heating element sheet into self-adapting conformance with flat and convexly curved features of the workpiece, so that a wax-laden sheet draped over the running surface of the workpiece can be gravitationally loaded by the heating element sheet.

The brushing device comprises a hot air nozzle for blowing hot air onto the ski, a roller brush for brushing the sliding surfaces of the ski, and a wax nozzle for spraying the sliding surfaces of the ski with a wax supplied from the wax supplying device, and the brushing device can be moved along the longitudinal axes of the ski by means of the movement device.And as occasion demands, the brushing device makes a plurality of reciprocating movmeents along the longitudinal axes of the ski to apply a wax coat of even more accurately controlled uniformity, thickness, surface texture and so forth.

摘要： A multipurpose ski apparatus is presented which may be used to tune and groove a ski. The apparatus may be easily held by a person's hand. It has a file on its upper end for filing the bottom side of a ski, a metal scraper for scraping the bottom of the ski, two rotating blades coupled to its bottom surface for filing the sides of the ski, and a removable insert which may be placed into an aperture in the bottom surface for grooving a layer of wax applied to the bottom surface of the ski. The multipurpose ski apparatus may be used without a vise or any other anchoring device. A method for tuning a ski with the multipurpose apparatus is also presented which comprises the steps of scraping the wax off the bottom surface of the ski by the metal scraper, filing the bottom surface of the ski with the file fastened to the top end of the apparatus, and simultaneously filing the sides of the ski with the two rotating files. If the ski is to be grooved, then a method of both tuning and grooving a ski is presented which includes the above-described steps in addition to the steps of applying a layer of wax onto the bottom surface of the ski, placing a groove in the wax along the centerline of the ski with a removable insert which may be placed into the bottom surface of the apparatus, and scraping off any excess wax with the metal scraper.

摘要： A device for waxing skis comprises a rectangular metal block forming a base-plate having ribs extending along the side edges and upstanding above the upper surface. A metal end plate is fixed to one end so as to protrude above the upper surface and below the lower surface of the base-plate. A plurality of shallow grooves in the end edge adjacent the end plate extends between the lower surface and upper surface and diverges toward the latter in width and depth. The base-plate also carries a handle assembly projecting upwardly away from the end opposite to the end plate. The upper surface of the base-plate together with the side ribs and end plate define a recess for containing melted wax which passes through the grooves when being applied and spreads evenly over the running surface of the ski. A guide member is disposed along one side of the base-plate and protrudes downwardly so as to be adapted to engage an edge of the ski during the waxing operation.

摘要： A hand held pocket size ski repair and maintenance tool is manipulated for reconditioning steps undertaken to refurbish the running surfaces and edges of snow skis. The various working portions of the tool are arranged in a two piece hollow body. The upper hollow piece has a cavity and the lower piece has a central rib having its own central cavity and creating two cavities. Two polishing corks are mounted in the cavity of the upper hollow piece and spaced apart to leave a space between them to accommodate the central rib of the lower hollow piece. Two abrasive stones, for deburring ski edges and removing scratches are respectively mounted adjacent the two corks in the cavity of the upper hollow piece. A file to rework the vertical and horizontal surfaces of ski edges is fitted to the central rib of the lower piece. An outside edge, located generally on the lower piece, is used in scraping operations. An outside square corner, generally on the upper piece, is included for scraping operations. Another outside corner on the upper piece is rounded and used in scraping of half-round grooves.
