    • A processor employs a store to load forward (STLF) predictor which may indicate, for dispatching loads, a dependency on a store. The dependency is indicated for a store which, during a previous execution, interfered with the execution of the load. Since a dependency is indicated on the store, the load is prevented from scheduling and/or executing prior to the store. The STLF predictor is trained with information for a particular load and store in response to executing the load and store and detecting the interference. Additionally, the STLF predictor may be untrained (e.g. information for a particular load and store may be deleted) if a load is indicated by the STLF predictor as dependent upon a particular store and the dependency does not actually occur. In one implementation, the STLF predictor records at least a portion of the PC of a store which interferes with the load in a first table indexed by the load PC. A second table maintains a corresponding portion of the store PCs of recently dispatched stores, along with tags identifying the recently dispatched stores. In another implementation, the STLF predictor records a difference between the tags assigned to a load and a store which interferes with the load in a first table indexed by the load PC. The PC of the dispatching load is used to select a difference from the table, and the difference is added to the tag assigned to the load.

    • Methods and systems for enabling users to register for notifications pertaining to electronic presentations of interest are described. The inventive methods and systems enable users to monitor many different electronic presentations without physically connecting to them for continuous play. Users can opt to monitor for the occurrence of an electronic presentation itself, or for events that might occur within various electronic presentations. The events can be monitored live through the use of meta information that is generated as the electronic broadcast is about to be, or is being broadcast. The meta information can be generated manually or automatically.

    • A task management system including a task server linking a plurality of system users, including at least one task definer, at least one task requester and at least one task fulfiller over a communications link. The task server includes a task processor for processing tasks, a task memory for storing task definitions and one or more graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for interfacing the system users to the task server to facilitate operation of said task processing system. The GUIs include task view interfaces, task fulfiller interfaces, which are used by task requesters and task fulfillers to request and fulfill tasks, respectively. The GUIs also include a plurality of administrative editor interfaces, which are used by task definers to define, group and sequence tasks.

    • Instead of a conventional task scheduler in which tasks having a high priority are preferentially scheduled, so that the execution of tasks with very low priorities is blocked, a “fair scheduler” is proposed in which each task (TA to TE) is assigned a counter (CNT) and a threshold value (THD), with the threshold value specifying a maximum number of execute cycles within which the task need not be executed immediately, and the counter counting those execute cycles within which the task is not executed. At the beginning of each execute cycle, a test is made to determine whether one of the counters exceeds the associated threshold value. If that is the case, one (TD) of the corresponding tasks (TC, TD) is selected by a selection criterion and executed, and its counter is reset. The counters assigned to the remaining tasks are incremented by one, and the execute cycle is repeated if it is found that at least one more of the tasks (TC) is waiting to be processed.

    • Detecting harmful or illegal intrusions into a computer network or into restricted portions of a computer network uses a features generator or builder to generate a feature reflecting changes in user and user group behavior over time. User and user group historical means and standard deviations are used to generate a feature that is not dependent on rigid or static rule sets. These statistical and historical values are calculated by accessing user activity data listing activities performed by users on the computer system. Historical information is then calculated based on the activities performed by users on the computer system. The feature is calculated using the historical information based on the user or group of users activities. The feature is then utilized by a model to obtain a value or score which indicates the likelihood of an intrusion into the computer network. The historical values are adjusted according to shifts in normal behavior of users of the computer system. This allows for calculation of the feature to reflect changing characteristics of the users on the computer system.
