    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurization purification method of a hydrocarbon oil that decreases the sulfur content to a very low concentration at relatively low equipment and operation costs, and to provide a hydrocarbon resin obtained by a polymerization treatment of the hydrocarbon oil having been subjected to the desulfurization treatment. SOLUTION: The desulfurization method of a hydrocarbon oil comprises (1) a step of adding an acidic catalyst to a hydrocarbon oil mainly composed of a component having a boiling point of 100-250°C obtained from naphtha and containing a sulfur compound as an impurity to carry out a polymerization reaction to the extent to 0.01-30 wt.% of the whole hydrocarbon oil, (2) a step of removing, as occasion demands, the polymerized product from the thus-obtained hydrocarbon oil containing the polymerized product, and (3) a step of bringing the hydrocarbon oil into contact with at least one adsorbent selected from the group consisting of activated clay, acid clay and acidic ion exchange resins.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a high quality gasoline having a low aromatic compound content, especially a two step isomerization process for catalytically isomerizing a 4 to 12C paraffinic hydrocarbon fraction into multi-branched hydrocarbons. SOLUTION: This process for producing the high quality gasoline from a hydrocarbon feed flow containing a 4 to 12C hydrocarbon fraction or linear paraffin middle cut, naphtha, aromatic compounds and olefins is characterized by sequentially performing two isomerization steps comprising the first isomerization step for subjecting the fed materials to the first isomerization reaction in the presence of a noble metal-containing solid acid state first catalyst which is effective for converting the linear paraffins into the mono-branched isomers and for saturating the aromatic compounds into the saturated cyclic hydrocarbons, and the second isomerization step for converting the mono- branched isomers in the effluent into the multi-branched isomers in the presence of the second catalyst having a Hammett's acidity lower than -10 at a temperature up to 100°C and lower by at least 50°C than the temperature of the first step, thus enhancing the concentration of the multi-branched isomers.
