    • The machine smoothes stitched seams on shoe shanks and applies a tape to cover the smoothed seam. A driven frictional wheel is cooperable with a second friction wheel rotatably mounted on a relatively elongated support over and along which the shanks are fed, the two friction wheels pressing and smoothing the stitched seams. Two holding elements are releasably engageable with this support at supporting points thereon spaced longitudinally of the support. A control circuit operates in such a manner that the two holding elements initially clamp the support at points spaced longitudinally therealong and, as a shoe shank leaves the friction wheels, the leading holding element is released for passage of the shoe shank therethrough while the trailing holding element remains clamped on the support. As the shoe shank clears the leading holding element, the latter is again clamped on the support and the trailing holding element is released from the support for passage of the shank. As the shank leaves the trailing holding element, the latter is again clamped on the support.

    • Se describe una máquina para aplicar a una bota la cinta protectora de la costura de la misma. La actuación de la máquina es totalmente automática y comprende un brazo desplazable en cuya porción mas externa se monta la bota, habiéndose previsto un medio retenedor de la bota en esa posición de trabajo que consiste en un elemento accionado por ambos extremos mediante cilindros neumáticos. La máquina incorpora medios de presión y aplicación de la cinta de rayar, materializados mediante roldanas impulsadas por cilindros neumáticos respectivos, y también incorpora medios de detección del comienzo de la bota para la aplicación automática de la cinta, materializados a base de un dispositivo emisor-receptor de la luz infrarroja, y de una superficie reflectora incorporada en un lateral de la porción de brazo que sirve de soporte para la bota a rayar.

    • A seam rubbing and strip applicator machine, in particular for pressing together and smoothing and strengthening the seams of shoe shank portions and applying thereto a cold adhesive strip, has two pressure rollers (4, 17) which are arranged substantially one above the other. The rollers (4, 17) are rotatable about substantially parallel axes and are mounted on pivotal arms (3, 18) so as to be movable towards and away from each other. At least one of the pressure rollers is driven by a motor (19) which can be switched on and off upon controlled pivotal movement of the pressure rollers towards and away from each other. A pivotally-mounted hood (6) is disposed adjacent the upper pressure roller (4) and carries a pressing roll (8) freely rotatably there on by an arm (7). The hood (6) is pivotable by a pneumatic cylinder (10), which is pivotally mounted on the machine body (1). The arm (18) carrying the roller (17) is pivotally connected to the piston rod (22) of a further pneumatic cylinder (23), pivotally mounted on the machine body. A limit switch (18) is provided which is actuable by the hood (6), so as to switch the motor (19) on and off.
