[Class 117.] Cigars are delivered by layers from the bottom of a magazine to an enveloping or banding machine. The cigars C are placed in layers, shown end on in Fig. 1, into a magazine formed by walls 21, 23 and rest upon a feed table 15 having grooves in which run conveyer chains 32 with pusher members 33. Camoperated arms 55 , 56 are adapted to actuate arms 62 , 63 to move plates 63, 63 to assume the successive position shown in Fig. 1, 7 .. 10 respectively. In the position shown in Fig. 1, the plate 63 is further from one end of the cigar than the plate 62 is from the other, the plate 62 now advances and pushes the lowermost layer C into the positions shown in Fig. 7. After the plate 62 has risen, as shown in Fig. 8, to lift the superincumbent cigars slightly, the plate 63 pushes the layer C to the left, Fig. 9, and also rises, leaving the layer free, as shown in Fig. 10, to be fed away by the conveyer 32. Guide bars 70 are lifted by the plates to assist the action. After the layer C has been removed. the plates 62, 63 descend together to deposit the next layer on the table 15 and withdraw to the positions shown in Fig. 1 in readiness for the next cycle of operations. The separated layer is delivered between belts running faster than the conveyer chains so as to separate the individual cigars and accumulate them again at the delivery point to form a store.
