    • Disclosed are internal lock mechanisms for doors of intermodal containers. The lock mechanisms (42, 82) include a lock member (58, 96) that moves between a locked position engaging a door (22, 84) to lock the door in the closed position and an unlocked position disengaged from the door to permit the door to move from the closed position to the open position. At least a portion of the lock mechanism is provided within or adjacent to the sill (17a, 77a). In one instance, the lock member (58) is biased toward the locked position, and a contact portion (61) on a bottom of the container is contacted to unlock it. The lock mechanism (42) may be accessed via connection openings (20) in a corner fitting (18), for example. In another instance, hooks (96) and hook receiving members (88) are provided within an interior (83) of the container, and rotated along a rotatable shaft (90) between the two positions.
