    • The invention concerns a protective element (1) comprising a plate (2) with a first longitudinal edge (3) and a second longitudinal edge (4) spaced by a distance (D) from each other, and a pivot bearing (5, 5′) arranged substantially parallel to the first longitudinal edge and/or the second longitudinal edge, designed for transferring forces, whereby the plate (2) is arranged mobile on a substructure (6) to absorb the forces exerted on the protective element, in particular on a protection system against floods and avalanches, and capable of being arranged mobile relative to said substructure (6), in a pivot zone (S). The invention is characterized in that the pivot bearing (5, 5′) is mounted sealed, and in order to compensate the forces being exerted on the plate (2) or on the bearing (5, 5′), said bearing is placed at a distance, at most a quarter of the distance (D) of a geometric axis, optionally of the plate (2) axis (7) passing through the center of gravity, between the first and second longitudinal edges, substantially parallel to the longitudinal edges (3, 4). Depending of the configuration of its surface, the protective element (1) can be produced in the form of a walkway or a lane, or carry solar collectors, or as means for transferring forces, and integrated in a system of protection against floods and avalanches.

    • A securing and waterproof mechanism of a floodgate apparatus includes a pillar, a water retaining gate, a pair of retaining bases and a securing member. The pillar has a retaining groove for receiving the water retaining gate. The retaining bases are attached to two opposite sides of the pillar. Each retaining base has at least one vertical channel. The securing member has two hook portions at one side. Each hook portion has a horizontal bar and a vertical bar extending upward from a distal end of the horizontal bar. Under this arrangement, the vertical bar of each hook portion is fitted in the vertical channel of the respective retaining base to prevent the securing member from sliding horizontally off the respective retaining base.

    • A sectionalized flood control barrier (10) for mounting on top of a levee or a river bank to prevent flooding. The barrier (10) consists of a footing (20) with a series of support channels (24) that are butted end to end attached to the footing. The support shells are sealed watertight at the interface with each other and also to the footing. A series of primary channel bridge assemblies (32) and secondary channel assemblies (46) are disposed within the support channels (24) and are also butted end to end. Wind protectors (60) contiguously engage each support channel (24) and rest upon the footing for diverting the wind over the barrier. Stepped fastening risers (62) are attached to the footing on each end and over the channel assemblies, and wind protectors hold them securely in place.

    • A securing and waterproof mechanism of a floodgate apparatus includes a pillar, a water retaining gate, a pair of retaining bases and a securing member. The pillar has a retaining groove for receiving the water retaining gate. The retaining bases are attached to two opposite sides of the pillar. Each retaining base has at least one vertical channel. The securing member has two hook portions at one side. Each hook portion has a horizontal bar and a vertical bar extending upward from a distal end of the horizontal bar.
