    • Methods and apparatus to flush residual used oil from the lubrication system of an engine during an oil change. The method includes draining used oil from a tank of the lubrication system and then adding fresh oil to the tank. An adaptor or fitting is used to provide an outlet in the lubrication system to flush any residual used oil that may not have been drained along with used oil in the oil tank. The engine may be started such that a scavenging pump of a lubrication system pumps residual used oil out of the system through the outlet. Once a user observes that residual used oil has been substantially flushed from the system, the engine is stopped to terminate the flushing process.

    • This invention is directed toward apparatus and methods for servicing equipment such as air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, engines, transmissions, and tires More particularly, invention is directed toward a system for safely transferring precisely measured quantities of a variety of liquids and gases to the serviced item using essentially a single work station apparatus cooperating with multiple reservoirs of fluids.     • A portable fluid exchanger for flushing the used transmission fluid from a vehicle engine as it replaces it with new fluid is mounted on a wheeled undercarriage and contains a tank of new transmission fluid, hoses, and a 12-volt electrical system which connects to the battery of the vehicle being serviced to power a fluid delivery pump, an output and return flow control system, and means for visually checking the condition of the fluid being pumped from the transmission. The normal continuous-flow circulation system of the vehicle is interrupted by interposing the exchanger in a cooling line of the transmission system, and the vehicle's own pump is used to expel fluid from the transmission while the exchanger introduces new fluid, as the vehicle engine idles. The fluid level in the transmission is gauged by monitoring inflow and outflow to and from the transmission to insure that it remains reasonably full during the flushing process. Indicators and controls are provided both to ascertain the flow direction of the transmission fluid cooling pump, and to effectively reverse the coupling between the transmission and the exchanger without disconnecting the attachment lines, to synchronize flow direction of the exchanger pump with that of the vehicle pump.

    • A first pump can withdraw waste fluid from an oil pan reservoir and is used to introduce flushing fluid having a base material of re-refined oil through the oil filter and internal oil lubrication distribution passage system, to recirculate the flushing fluid within the internal oil lubrication distribution passage system, to withdraw the waste flushing fluid from the oil pan reservoir for disposal and storage in an external storage receptacle for storing both the expired oil and flushing fluid. Methods for removing waste or spent fluid and introducing fresh fluid through the oil filter element and internal oil lubrication distribution passage system, and for introducing, recirculating and removing flushing fluid from the internal oil lubrication distribution passage system are also disclosed.
