摘要： The present invention relates to a system of manual sewing comprising using solid or hollow shapes, that is planar surfaces, to stabilize and display the area being worked on and using both hands to accomplish the sewing tasks. The area to be worked on is spread out and stabilized on a planar surface, and the planar surface itself is stabilized in space with a holding device or by the surroundings. Both hands are then free to do the actual sewing. Pincers and needle holders designed to assist the use in proper use are employed to optimize visualization and to facilitate the actual sewing. The use of eyeless needles with pre-attached thread, preferably swaged-on threads, eliminates the need for threading. Use of curved needles with needle holders facilitates sewing in small spaces. Kits are also contemplated that comprise a variety of sewing crafts of the present invention.

The body includes a transverse feed slot disposed just to the rear of the needles down through which the fastener clip is manually inserted. The tool also includes an ejector mechanism, which is slidably mounted back and forth within the body and is rearwardly biased by a spring. The ejector mechanism is manually operable from the rear of the body and includes a pair of ejector rods which are slidable back and forth within the bores of the needles and are used to push the transverse bars into and through the needles.

摘要： A fastener for use in attaching a button to a garment or a piece of fabric and a fastener clip including one or more of said fasteners. In a preferred embodiment, the fastener comprises a U-shaped flexible filament and a pair of transverse feet, the transverse feet being disposed at opposite ends of the U-shaped flexible filament. The U-shaped flexible filament is generally rectangular in cross-section. The width of the filament is substantially uniform over its length whereas the thickness of the filament is greatest in its arcuate region (to maximize the strength of the fastener) and least towards the feet. Because of its U-shape, the filament is permitted to extend between adjacent button holes, thereby creating the appearance of thread. The transverse feet, which extend parallel to one another and perpendicularly to the plane of the filament, are sized and shaped both to fit through a button hole and, once inserted through the button hole and an underlying garment, to securely engage the underside of the garment. To minimize contact with a person's skin, the feet of the present fastener are preferably shorter than the transverse bars of existing button fasteners and are preferably comparable in overall size to a knot of thread used to secure a button to a sheet of clothing material. In addition, the feet preferably have rounded ends, a flat top surface, and a contoured bottom surface to minimize contact with, and hence irritation of, a person's skin.

摘要： A self-contained button attachment assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the assembly comprises a fastener dispensing tool. The tool includes a hollow, open-ended, unitary housing having a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion and the bottom portion are generally cylindrical in shape, the top portion having a substantially greater cross-sectional diameter than the bottom portion. Four hollow, slotted needles are fixedly mounted in the housing and extend out through the bottom thereof. Four ejector rods are slidably mounted within the four needles, the four ejector rods being fixedly mounted at their respective top ends on a plate that is slidably mounted within the top portion of the housing and is accessible through the open top end thereof. The assembly also comprises a conventional garment button of the type having four transverse openings. The button is positioned within the bottom portion of the housing so that the four needles extend partially through its four transverse openings, the button being releasably retained within the housing by a circumferential lip formed on the inside of the housing. The assembly further comprises a pair of fasteners, each fastener comprising a U-shaped flexible filament and a pair of transverse feet, the transverse feet being disposed at opposite ends of the filament and extending perpendicularly to the plane of the filament. Each transverse foot is loaded into one of the hollow slotted needles and is positioned over the button.

摘要： A method and apparatus for basting layers of flexible materials together such as for quilt making includes a spacing member, such as a grid, having openings therein is disposed on a support surface. A backing member or first flexible member is operatively secured to the support surface and a second member disposed over the first flexible member. Other layers are then placed over the second flexible member and, in the case of quilt making, there would typically be just three layers. A basting gun having a hollow needle is then utilized by pushing the hollow needle through all of the layers of flexible material and into one of the openings in the spacing member. Then the basting tool is utilized to force the first end of the plastic fastener through the hollow needle so that this first end of the plastic fastener is on one end of the flexible members and the second end of the plastic fastener is on the other side of the flexible members whereby the flexible members are held together by the plastic fastener. This process is repeated at various places on the flexible layers until they are held together sufficiently so that they can be permanently sewn together.

摘要： A fastener clip having a plurality of fasteners for use in attaching a button to a garment or a piece of fabric. In a preferred embodiment, the fastener clip comprises a plurality of fasteners, each fastener being a flexible U-shaped filament having a foot at each end. The filament portion of the fastener is preferably rectangular in cross-section and has a non-uniform thickness, i.e., being thinner at the ends and thicker in the arcuate region, to maximize the strength of the fastener. The feet are appropriately dimensioned so that they may be inserted into a desired garment through a pair of button holes of conventional size and thereafter be retained by the underside of the garment. Each foot has rounded ends, a flat top surface and a compact size to minimize irritation with a person's skin. The fastener clip also comprises a pair of runner bars, each fastener being connected to the pair of runner bars by a pair of severable connector posts. The connector posts are attached to the outer sides of the fastener feet, as opposed to the bottoms thereof, so that, when they are severed, they will not create burrs in areas where they are likely to come into contact with a person's skin.
