    • The invention relates to a diaphragm (3) of a diaphragm press for separating liquid and solid substances by subjecting said substances (7) to the action of a hydraulic medium via the diaphragm (3), in which the sealing and holding functions are separated. To this end the diaphragm (3) is configured in two parts, notably a substantially sealing diaphragm seal (14) and a substantially holding diaphragm support (13). In this way the forces exerted on the diaphragm (3) by drainage elements (6) located in the pressing chamber (4) of a container (1) of the diaphragm press can be absorbed by the diaphragm support (13) without damage to the materials concerned. This significantly extends the useful life of the diaphragm (3).

A filtering shell (23) and the screw body (29) are perforated and permeable to the pressed liquid. Dewatering built-in parts (80, 81) held by supports (85, 86) of the housing (2) are built in a first annular space (33), radially spaced from the filtering shell (23) and the screw body (29). A first hollow space (84) of each perforated dewatering built-in part (80, 81) receives the pressed-out liquid, that flows then into a second annular space (24) of the housing (2), thus considerably increasing the dewatering efficiency of the screw press (1).
