摘要： The inventive pneumatic mattress (1) is comprised of an air-tight cover (2) which is arranged in a top layer (7) and in a bottom layer (6), whereby the top layer (7) and bottom layer (6) are interconnected by a multitude of cross-members (3), for example, textile cross-members. A rear wall (4) is arranged outside of the air-tight area of the cover (2), however, it is enclosed by the top and bottom layers (7, 6). The rear wall (4) is fastened to the wall (5) using known means (5) such that the cover (2) does not require passages running therethrough. The cover (2) is comprised of a textile material which does not stretch easily and which is coated in order to render it air-tight. The cross-members (3) are also made of, for example, a textile material that does not stretch easily. For use, the pneumatic mattress (1) is inflated with compressed air for which a valve (9) is provided. The pneumatic mattress (1) can comprise an elevated edge (8) located on the edge opposite the wall (5). When not in use, the pneumatic mattress (1) can be deflated and stored, for example, in a bag (10).

摘要： An improved latch system for a folding wall bed prevents unintentional folding of the bed from the horizontal use position to the vertical storage position. First latch members (60a, 60b) are positioned on the bed frame (10) for selective engagement with second latch members (80a, 80b, 81a, 81b) positioned on the walls (16, 17) of the recess in which the bed is mounted. The first latch members preferably comprise latch pins (61a, 61b) normally urged outwardly by springs (63a, 63b) for engagement with second latch members. An actuation mechanism is provided for selectively retracting the latch pins (61a, 61b) to permit folding of the bed to the vertical storage position. In one embodiment, the actuation mechanism includes an actuation frame (70) which is pivotally mounted to the main bed frame (10) for movement through a small angle. Springs (74a, 74b) normally urge this frame upwardly, tensioning a pair of cables (65a, 65b) which are connected for retracting the latch pins. When a person or other object is on the bed, the actuation frame pivots downward slightly releasing tension on the cables and causing the latch pins to engage to prevent fold up. In a second embodiment, the actuation mechanism includes a control button (55) mounted at the foot of the bed which operates through a linkage (54, 53, 35) to retract the latch pins (31a, 31b) to permit fold up of the bed. In this embodiment, the recessed latch plates (40a, 40b) preferably have a ramp-shaped portion to permit fold down of the bed without engagement of the latches.

The techniques can include configuring a moveable furniture item such that it will not pivot of tip over during normal operating conditions. The techniques can also include certain passive safety features, such as selecting components that experience a fail condition if a certain threshold condition is reached. In some embodiments, the furniture item can be programmed to operate in various modes, desirable in certain circumstances. The techniques described herein can improve both the functionality and the safety of moveable furniture items.
