摘要： An inkjet printhead chip includes a wafer substrate (12). A CMOS drive circuitry layer is positioned on the wafer substrate. A plurality of nozzle arrangements is positioned on the wafer substrate and the CMOS drive circuitry layer. Each nozzle arrangement includes nozzle chamber walls and a roof wall that define a nozzle chamber and an ink ejection port (35) defined in the roof wall. A micro-electromechanical actuator (14) is connected to the CMOS drive circuitry layer. The actuator has at least one movable member (14) that is positioned to act on ink in the nozzle chamber to eject the ink from the ink ejection port on receipt of a signal from the drive circuitry layer. The movable member is spaced between 2 microns and 15 microns from the CMOS drive circuitry layer.

摘要： An ink jet printhead has a number of printhead chips (10). Each printhead chip (10) has a wafer substrate (16). A plurality of nozzle arrangements (10) is positioned on the wafer substrate. Each nozzle arrangement (22) has nozzle chamber walls and a roof wall that define a nozzle chamber (34) and a nozzle opening (24) in fluid communication with the nozzle chamber. An actuator (28) is operatively arranged with respect to each nozzle arrangement (10) to eject ink from the nozzle chamber through the nozzle opening. A nozzle guard (80) is positioned over the printhead chip. The nozzle guard has a support structure (86) and a planar cover member (82). The planar cover member is positioned on the support structure. The planar cover member defines a plurality of passages (84). Each passage (84) is in register with a respective nozzle opening (24). The planar cover member (82) is less than 300 microns thick.

摘要： A printhead chip for an inkjet printhead includes a substrate (12). A plurality of nozzle arrangements is positioned on the substrate. Each nozzle arrangement includes nozzle chamber walls (18,20,22) and a roof (24) that define a nozzle chamber (26). The roof defines an ink ejection port (28) that is in fluid communication with the nozzle chamber. An actuator (36) is displaceable, in a substantially rectilinear manner, with respect to the substrate. An ink-ejecting mechanism is angularly displaceable with respect to the substrate to eject ink from the ink ejection port. A translation to rotation conversion mechanism (44) is interposed between the actuator and the ink-ejecting mechanism (50) to convert rectilinear movement of the actuator into angular displacement of the ink-ejecting mechanism.

摘要： A cartridge for a pen including a marking device (1120) such as an ink jet head and a non marking stylus (1156) for contacting the writing surface, the pen being operative to mark a visible path onto the surface, the marking device being electronically controllable to change an attribute of the path such as colour or line thickness. The pen includes a user interface such as buttons or a sliders (1404, 1406, 1408) and a display (1410) whereby a user may modify the attribute. A sensor is capable of sensing images including coded data or colour which can be stored in a memory or transmitted to an external control source. The stylus can slide along its longitudinal axis to activate a switch to power the print head operating integrated circuit and/or open a rotary ink jet head cap. The stylus may include a pressure transducer to measure the force applied by the hand as further security in identifying a signature.
