摘要： Apparatus for manufacturing a cementitious building product includes at least one twin-roll mill comprising a pair of contra-rotating rolls defining a nip therebetween, for effecting high-shear mixing of a cementitious composition. At least one transfer blade means is arranged adjacent to the rolls and at an angle to the axes thereof for effecting transfer of the cementitious composition from an upstream end of the rolls to a downstream end thereof during mixing. A band of cementitious material is thereby formed on one of the rolls and take-off means are provided at the downstream end of the rolls adjacent said one of the rolls for removing said band of cementitious material from said roll. Forming means for forming said band into blanks are also provided, said baink being cured to form a building product.

摘要： In a method of manufacturing a cementitious building product; mixing cement, water and a processing aid are first mixed. The mixture so formed is then subjected to high shear mixing in a twin-roll mill, the rolls of which are rotated at unequal speeds. The mixture is thereby caused to plasticise and then to adhere to only one of the rolls to form a band of material thereon. The band of material is then removed from the said roll, forming into blanks, and cured to form a building product.

摘要： A vortex combustion furnace (1) for the production of glass beads or the like is generally cylindrical and has an outlet flue (24) at its upper end. A burner (13) at the lower end burns a gas/air mixture. Secondary air is introduced into the chamber through tangential air inlets (16) and creates a vortex within the chamber. Tertiary air is introduced through a ring of angled nozzles (71) surrounding the burner further to swirl the flame. The vortex has a top-hat temperature profile with a central heating region with a temperature in excess of 1000°C and a surrounding cooling region with a temperature not much above ambient. Glass cullet is supplied to a fluidized bed (53) and thence entrained in a pipe (44) to be injected into the chamber. The cullet follows a spiral path in the vortex, is heated, melts to form glass beads, is then cooled and finally is collected after striking the wall of the chamber.

摘要： A dough moulding composition comprises 55-90% of slate powder, up to 15% of glass fibres and 10-30% of a phenolic resin mixture consisting of approximately equal parts of a liquid resole resin and a powdered novolak resin. Up to 50% of pigment may also be added to the composition. The composition when cured under heat and pressure produced an artificial slate product with good flexural strength and low water absorption. The product is particularly suitable for making roofing tiles.

摘要： The invention is concerned with an improved method of roofing and a roof structure provided by said method. The improved method of roofing comprises the steps of: a) providing a roof structure including spaced rafters (2); b) locating panels (4) between associated pairs of said rafters to form a closed roof structure; c) procuring a plurality of carrier frames (6) for roofing tiles (8); d) mounting at least one tile (8) on each carrier frame (6); and e) fixing said frames (6) to said panels (4); wherein said panels (4) each comprise recesses (24) adapted to receive, in use, associated protuberances (42) of the carrier frames (6) whereby said frames (6) and the tiles (8) mounted thereon are fixed to the roof structures as aforesaid. An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a quick and easy method of constructing a roof structure which avoids the use of nails, clips and pegs and other such fixing arrangements.

摘要： A rapid laying arrangement for interlocking concrete or clay roof tiles (T1, T2, T3, T4) is provided by a plurality of tile supports (2) of moulded plastics, e.g. polyethylene, on which the tiles are located in half-bond relationship. Each support (2) also has resilient portions adjacent the jaw-like members (70, 72) for resisting loads impacting on the tiles secured on the support (2). Carrying handles (118, 120) are provided to enable a tiler to carry the supports and tiles assembled thereon, the supports each also comprising lugs (100, 102, 104) for location, in use, in complementary recesses (106, 108, 110). To complete the laying arrangement and secure the supports (2) and thus the tiles (T1, T2, T3, T4) to a roof appropriate fasteners are inserted through apertures (112, 114, 116) into the boarding (130) of the roof structure.
