摘要： This invention is for a resin rich, electrically insulating tape comprising a layer of mica and at least one layer of an electrically insulating scrim, wherein the tape is impregnated with an epoxy-phenolic novolac resin having about 0.1 percent to about 0.5 percent by weight of the mica of an alkoxy titanate. The tape will have an excellent shelf life, rapid cure to form stability and superior moisture resistance. Also described is a method for manufacturing such a resin rich tape.

摘要： A high solids content, relatively low viscosity, organic solvent solution of polyester magnet wire enamel is described. The enamel is a tris (hydroxyethylisocyanurate) polyester having a ratio of hydroxyl to carboxyl groups of 1.65 to 2.0:1 and a hydroxyl number of 216 to 316. Such enamels are produced with solids contents of about 50 to about 70% by weight and viscosity less 1,500 cps at 200°F. The method of making such enamel by reacting a glycol, tris (hydroxy-ethylisocyanurate), and an aromatic diacid or diester in the presence of a titanate catalyst is also described.

摘要： An improved serial data protocol/format is provided in a serial multiplex system for use in an automotive vehicle electrical system which is subject to electrical noise. The protocol/format includes successive transactions between a master controller and respective remote controllers each connected to a serial multiplex bus. Each transaction is bidirectional and includes a command message transmitted by the master controller and a reply message normally transmitted by an answering remote controller. Each command message is preceded by a multibit SYNC byte. The command message includes an address byte (for a particular remote controller), a command byte, and an error check such as a cyclic redundance check byte passed on the address and command bytes. The reply message includes the address byte of the replying remote controller, a response byte indicative of its response to the command byte, and an error check such as a cyclic redundancy check byte based on the reply address and response bytes. The master controller may be caused to repeat the transmission of a command message if the address bytes, the command/response correlations or error check bytes are not verifiable, thereby enhancing the system's ability to detect and/or reject errors as might be occasioned by noise.

摘要： A thermal relay construction capable of operating a pair of electrical contacts. The thermal relay includes an electrical heater of the self-regulating PTC type which is mounted upon and thermally coupled directly to a bimetal snap disc so that heat generated by the heater causes the bimetal snap disc to overcenter and operate the electrical contacts. The other electrical connection to the heater is made through a compensating blade which bears against the heater to compensate for ambient temperature effects on the thermal relay. An electric range oven control uses temperature sensitive electrical contacts in conjunction with the thermal relay to control the oven heaters.
