摘要： An image information conversion apparatus and method by which picture quality deterioration caused by conversion from inputted MPEG2 image compression information into MPEG4 image compression information to be outputted is prevented. When an I picture of an MPEG2 bit stream is to be converted into a P-VOP of an MPEG4 bit stream based on an estimated value of the complexity for each VOP, a scene change detection section detects whether or not the I picture includes a scene change. If a scene change is detected by the scene change detection section, then a GOV structure determination section determines that conversion of the I picture of the MPEG2 bit stream into a P-VOP of an MPEG4 bit stream should not be performed.

摘要： An image data converting apparatus comprising an MPEG2-image data decoding section 19, a scan-converting section 20, an MPEG4-image encoding section 21, and a picture-type determining section 18. The MPEG2-image data decoding section 19 decodes input MPEG2-image compressed data in both the vertical direction and the horizontal direction by using only lower, fourth-order coefficients. The scan-converting section 20 converts interlaced-scan pixel data to sequential-scan pixel data. The MPEG4-image encoding section 21 generates MPEG4-image compressed data from the sequential-scan pixel signals. The sections 19, 20 and 21 are connected in series. The picture-type determining section 18 is connected to the input of the MPEG2-image data decoding section 19. The section 18 determines the picture type of each frame data contained in the interlaced-scan MPEG4-picture compressed data, outputs only the frame data about I/P pictures, discards the frame data about B pictures, thereby converting the frame rate.

摘要： The invention provides an image information conversion apparatus and method by which picture quality deterioration caused by setting of an initial value can be prevented when code amount control in MPEG4 image coding is performed based on information extracted from MPEG2 image compression information. An initial reference quantization scale determination section determines an initial value for a reference quantization scale from predetermined MPEG2 image compression information, the number of macro blocks to be included in an MPEG4 bit stream, a code amount allocated to the first I picture of the MPEG2 image compression information stored in an information buffer, an average quantization scale and a target code amount for the first I-VOP of the MPEG4 bit stream calculated by an MPEG4 image information coding section, and then calculates an initial value for a virtual buffer occupation amount based on the determined initial value for the reference quantization scale.

Within output data from the decoders, output data associated with the same object descriptor (output data composing the same object) are mixed by a mixer circuit. Subsequently, the mixed output data is supplied to an object synthesizer circuit of a synthesizer circuit which is supplied with a corresponding node. Then, the object synthesizer circuit corresponds one image to one object to perform texture mapping. 摘要： Mismatch errors occur in the local decoder of a MPEG-standard compressor for a motion picture signal, and in an MPEG-standard expander for a compressed motion picture signal. This is because of the lack of a standard for rounding results of *.5 (* is an integer) obtained when a set of transform coefficients resulting from compressing the motion picture signal is inversely orthogonally transformed. The invention prevents mismatch errors by pre-processing the set of transform coefficients prior to the inverse orthogonal transform. The transform coefficients in the set are summed, and the parity (odd or even) of the sum is judged. When the parity of the sum is judged to be even, the parity of one of the transform coefficients in the set is inverted to provide a parity-inverted transform coefficient. This makes the parity of the sum odd. Then, when the set of transform coefficients including the parity-inverted transform coefficient is inversely orthogonally transformed, none of the results of the orthogonal transform will have a value of *.5.
