摘要： A method and system for reducing background noise during a telephone call. When a caller begins dialing a telephone number, the system receives an ambient noise level measured near the caller's telephone. The system then computes an inverse noise waveform, which corresponds to the received ambient noise level. The inverse noise waveform is then transmitted along the same telephone line used by the completed call. The inverse noise waveform reduces the ambient background noise from the caller's location for the duration of the telephone call.

摘要： A private broadcasting system includes communication terminals which are coupled to both a broadcasting network and point-to-point network. A private broadcasting device included in the broadcasting system is coupled to a database that contains a pool of encryption keys and a pool of channel numbers. The encryption keys and channel numbers are assigned to a private broadcast request when the communicating partners of the private broadcast request are available for communication. The encryption key and channel number is issued to each of the participating terminals. Each of the participating terminals encrypts and de-encrypts the information transmitted on and received from the broadcasting channel at the assigned channel number. In this way, the terminals communicate with each other privately excluding all other terminals that are not part of the private broadcast communication.

摘要： With the advent of personal digital assistants (PDAs) having modems for information, e.g., facsimile and/or data, transmission over wireless connections, as well as the capability for voice communications, we have recognized that is possible to communicate with a person, wherever they are, in whatever form is desired. In order to do so in a manner that simulates the way a person at a fixed location having a separate telephone, fax machine and data modem would communicate, incorporate into a PDA is a) a receiver for a wireless actuation signal that indicates that a communication of some type is waiting for a called party; b) an outgoing connection origination unit that establishes a connection from the PDA to the waiting communication; c) a discriminator, which makes a determination as to the type of communication that is waiting; and d) a selection unit that routes the information signals received over the connection established by the PDA to an appropriate communication unit within the PDA, e.g., a fax modem, data modem, or voice communication unit, the appropriate communication unit being selected in response to the type of communication that was determined by the discriminator to be waiting. The PDA owner may optionally be alerted only when 1) an information transmission is successfully completed and the received information is waiting in the PDA for access by its owner, or 2) when a voice connection has successfully been established to the communication originator who continues to indicate a readiness to communicate.

This determination is made using two-way paging technology through which a pager-carrying called party/subscriber is determined to be within the local area if the two-way pager carried by the called party/subscriber is registered within the area. If the called party/subscriber is determined to be within the local area, then a local page is broadcast to the called party/subscriber and a return call to the PBX by the called party/subscriber is bridged with the call being held from the calling party at the PBX. If the called party/subscriber is determined to be outside the local area, then the calling party's call is connected over the telephone network to the called party/subscriber's personal reach service network platform. A nationwide page is broadcast and a return call from the called party/subscriber to the network platform is bridged with the calling party's call to complete the connection between the calling and called parties.

摘要： Paging, cellular telephone or other messaging functionality is incorporated into a virtual contact center system to permit logged-off customer service representatives (CSRs) to be alerted to a need to logon to the system, and to permit CSRs to alert supervisors or specialists to logon to the system. Matching at a contact control server of existing conditions to predetermined criteria, e.g., failure to login at an assigned time, or specified network conditions (such as length of customer queues), triggers a command for a communication to one or more logged-off CSRs. Results of follow-up testing at the contact control server for matches causes page requests to be renewed, redirected or canceled. Unusual contact requirements or emerging network conditions requiring supervisory input or increased monitoring by traffic or subject matter specialists is likewise triggered by analysis at a contact control server or by CSR click selection of messages to be sent to a virtual contact center requesting issuance of information such as web pages to cognizant personnel.

摘要： A virtual contact center (VCC) system includes facilities for full participation by a VCC monitor in a transaction between a customer and a customer service representative (CSR) using virtual network computing (VNC) techniques. A second display system remote from a first computer system actively views and controls the computing desktop at the first computer. Thus, one or more virtual contact center monitors can simultaneously view a CSR desktop, including windows containing merchant applications. Moreover, use of VNC programs permits a monitor to directly control the selection, display, data entry and interaction with such merchant applications and customer in exactly the same manner, and to the same extent, as a CSR.

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for updating the telephone number in a subscriber's profile to the telephone number at the subscriber's current location based on a revertive call. When a revertive call is received by a system from a subscriber, the subscriber's number is identified and compared to a default number in the subscriber's profile. The call is connected and the system checks whether the telephone number is the same as the number stored in the subscriber's profile. If the subscriber's number is different than the number stored in the subscriber's profile, after the call is terminated, the system queries the subscriber as to whether the subscriber would like to have calls forwarded to his or her current telephone number for a particular length of time. If the subscriber indicates that he or she would like to have calls forwarded to his or her current telephone number for a particular period of time, the subscriber's telephone number will be stored in the subscriber's profile so that future pages or calls will be forwarded to that number for the prescribed period, thus obviating the need for the subscriber to constantly place revertive calls from the same location.
