    • A system and method are provided for integrated registration of images, the system including a processor, a first registration portion for performing rough registration of an image, a first segmentation portion for performing segmentation of an object of interest in the image, a second registration portion for performing fine registration of the image, and a second segmentation portion for performing segmentation of structures of the object of interest in the image; and the method including receiving a sequence of images, selecting an image from the sequence, cropping a region of interest (ROI) from the selected image, performing rough registration of the cropped ROI, performing segmentation of an object of interest from the rough registered ROI, performing fine registration of the ROI, and performing segmentation of structures of the object of interest from the fine registered ROI.

    • A dynamically configurable clamping device for applying a desired electrical current to a tissue membrane includes an input lead electrically connected to the tissue membrane to provide a sensed signal indicative of voltage across the membrane. An input circuit includes an analog-to-digital converter, and is responsive to the sensed signal and provides a digitized signal indicative of the sensed signal. A digital signal processor executes selected program instructions to operate in a selected one of (i) a voltage clamp mode, (ii) a current clamp mode or (iii) a dynamic clamp mode based upon the state of a mode selection signal indicative of the selected operating mode. The digital signal processor provides a digital current command signal indicative of the current to be applied to the tissue membrane. An output circuit receives the digital current command signal, and generates a current signal indicative thereof. An output lead receives and applies the current signal to the tissue membrane. Digital feedback control is advantageous over the traditional systems by providing programmability, capability for dynamic changes of clamping modes, hardware simplification, and integration of multi-channel clamping systems. The digital signal processor in the feedback loop provides programmability in the control algorithm.

    • A method and apparatus for processing three-dimensional video signals representing a solid subject comprises, radiating the subject, receiving radiation from the subject with receptors on three axes intersecting the subject to produce three planar images of the subject volume normal to the three respective radiation axes. The picture elements of the three planar images are converted into three corresponding sets of planar video pixel signals which are converted into voxels and written at the three radiation axes into superimposition in a three dimensional storage matrix such that coincidence of three pixels in the three respective images stores a single voxel representative of the superposition of the three pixels. The voxels in the matrix can then be addressed by a view selector at an angle other than the three original radiation axes to read the selected two dimensional view out of the matrix to a display or recorder.
