    • An optical fiber connector comprising a base and a lid member constituting an element having a doubly split structure which forms a roughly rod-like shape when united, and a spring for housing the base and lid member and applying pressure for pressing them together, wherein centering grooves for positioning and centering optical fibers for adjoinment and connection are provided in at least one or between the opposing faces of the base and lid member which are put together. In a mode wherein the element is inserted into a C-shaped spring having a rod shape with a C-shaped cross section, the optical fibers which are inserted from both ends of the element are pushed to the centering groove and adjoined into connection. By inserting or withdrawing wedges into wedge insertion grooves formed between the base and the lid member, it is possible to open or close the element.

    • An objective lens driving apparatus includes a base, an objective lens for converging an optical beam on an optical disc while the optical disc is rotating, and a holding member for holding the objective lens. A first supporting mechanism elastically supports the holding member on the base in such a manner as to allow the holding member to be translated in a focusing direction which is substantially perpendicular to a surface of the optical disc and in a tracking direction which is substantially perpendicular to the focusing direction and parallel to a radial direction of the optical disc. A moving mechanism including a coil and a magnetic circuit translates the holding member in the focusing direction and the tracking direction by a driving force generated by the coil and the magnetic circuit. A second supporting mechanism visco-elastically supports the magnetic circuit on the base in such a manner as to translate the magnetic circuit in the focusing direction. The magnetic circuit is translated in an opposite direction to the translation direction of the holding member by a driving force acting oppositely to the driving force for translating the holding member in the focusing direction.

    • A micrprocessor-controlled, frequency-synthesized radio transceiver system comprise a microprocessor for controlling the synthesis of local-oscillator frequencies for both the transmitting and receiving of radio signals. The microprocessor has a predetermined control capacity significantly smaller than the capacity required to control the synthesis of local-oscillator frequencies for a first plurality of radio frequencies. A transmitter circuit and a receiver circuit are capable of operating at all radio frequencies within the same predetermined band of frequencies. A control input arrangement permits customizing the microprocessor to control the synthesis of local-oscillator frequencies for a second plurality of radio frequencies within its predetermined control capacity. A phase-locked loop system is also provided for synthesizing the local oscillator frequencies, and comprises a VCO responsive to each of a plurality of predetermined voltage levels for generating an oscillatory signal at a corresponding frequency, a PLL control circuit coupled with the VCO and responsive to predetermined master control signals, each corresponding to a desired frequency, for producing a corresponding voltage level, and a pre-scaler circuit coupled intermediate the VCO and the PLL control circuit and responsive to the oscillatory signal for producing a scaled feedback control signal at a much lower frequency. The PLL control circuit is responsive to the feedback control signal for locking in the frequency of the oscillatory signal to the desired frequency.
