    • In a scroll fluid machine, an orbiting scroll engages with a stationary scroll to form a sealed chamber in which fluid can be compressed toward a center with revolution of the orbiting scroll with respect to the stationary scroll. An annular groove is formed near the outer circumference of the stationary scroll. A dust seal fits in the annular groove of the stationary scroll. The annular groove has almost the same width, but has a wider portion having the twice the width as the other. In the wider portion of the annular groove, the ends of the dust seal are overlapped. The overlapped surfaces are rough to engage with each other.

    • A scroll mounting member for mounting a drive scroll therein is secured to the left end of a drive shaft coupled to a motor. A rotary bearing is fitted on the outer periphery of the scroll mounting member, and its outer periphery is secured to a scroll housing. The scroll mounting member is disposed for rotation in the scroll housing and is secured to the drive shaft. A bearing retainer for holding the rotary bearing is mounted by bolts via a spring in a mounting portion of the scroll housing. The rotary bearing is adjustable in the thrust direction at the scroll housing. By turning bolts, the rotary bearing is either advanced in the thrust direction via the bearing retainer or retreated, via the bearing retainer and a spring, which, together with the bolts, form an adjusting device. A self-lubricating sleeve seal is axially slidably fitted in an end portion of a driven scroll mounting member. A seal plate, of a mirror-finished hard material, is secured to a seal retainer on the cylindrical end side of the sleeve seal. The sleeve seal is pushed against the seal plate by the fluid pressure so that its end is in rotating and sealing contact with the seal.

    • A substrate heat treatment apparatus includes a heat treatment furnace of a flat configuration, and having a cavity in which a substrate is accommodated. The heat treatment furnace includes a gas supply unit at one side end face, an opening for communication between the cavity and the outside world, and a gas discharge unit in the vicinity of the opening for discharging gas from the cavity at the other side end face. The heat treatment furnace further includes a cover for shutting the opening allowing opening/closing thereof. In the gas exhaust unit, an exhaust chamber is formed on the other side end face along the opening with a partition wall between the opening and the exhaust chamber. An exhaust portion is formed in communication with the outside world in the exhaust chamber. The partition wall is formed so that the edge of the partition wall is displaced away from the inside surface of the cover, whereby a slit-like vent passage extending in the direction of the width of the cavity is formed between the cover and the edge of the partition wall when the opening is shut. The gas flow is uniform in the vicinity of the vent passage when a substrate is loaded/unloaded into and/from the heat treatment furnace, and also during heat treatment. The outside air will not enter the furnace, and no stagnation of the process gas occurs in the furnace.

    • A cuff regulator for an endotracheal-tube cuff comprising a first chamber connected to a pressurized gas supply source, and a second chamber connected to the first chamber through a pressure regulating valve and having an opening connected to a cuff of the cuffed endotracheal-tube. An orifice open to the external environment is provided in a part of a gas conduit between the second chamber and the cuff. A third chamber is also provided having the same pressure as that of the environment in which the cuff is existent. A valve driving apparatus drives the pressure regulating valve in response to the pressure difference between the third chamber and the second chamber, and a pressure setting device sets a desired cuff pressure at which opening and closing operations of the pressure regulating valve are actuated. With such construction, gas having a pressure higher than the desired cuff pressure is supplied from the pressurized gas supply source to the first chamber, and the cuff pressure is maintained at the desired cuff pressure set by the pressure setting device while the gas is slowly discharged toward the external environment through the orifice.
