摘要： An ink jet printer is provided, which intermittently dispenses cleaning liquid onto ink that is adhered to an endless belt that carries printing sheets. A cleaning liquid dispenser is driven by a rotator that rotates in association with the rotation of the endless belt. The rotation position of the rotator is set as a reference, in order to control the feed timing. In this way, a gap can be maintained between two printing sheets that are carried by the endless belt, ink can be jetted toward the gap, and cleaning liquid can be dispensed on the gap. A print process and a flushing process can be sequentially repeated.

摘要： An inkjet printer includes a plurality of rollers, an endless transportation belt, a belt rotating mechanism, a recording unit, a printing medium supply mechanism, and a control unit. The transportation belt is laid on the rollers and defines a first recess portion, which extends in a direction perpendicular to a printing medium transporting direction, in an outer circumferential surface thereof. The belt rotating mechanism applies a rotating force to the transportation belt. The recording unit is disposed to face the transportation belt and forms an image. The printing medium supply mechanism supplies a printing medium onto the transportation belt. The control unit controls at least one of the belt rotating mechanism and the printing medium supply mechanism so that when the printing medium is on the transportation belt, one of front and rear end portions of the printing medium is located in the first recess portion.

The feeding device includes a pair of feed rollers which holds the medium therebetween in rolling contact with the opposite surfaces of the medium. At least one of the pair of feed rollers is driven so as to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the printing direction, to feed the medium in the printing direction. One of the feed rollers which contacts the above-indicated one surface of the medium has an outer circumferential surface which includes a small-diameter portion whose diameter is smaller than that of the other portions. The small-diameter portion is aligned with the printing area in a direction of width of the medium perpendicular to the printing direction, so that the small-diameter portion is prevented from contacting the printed image. The feed rollers may be replaced by a platen roller of a printer. The platen roller is rotated about an axis perpendicular to the printing direction, and cooperates with a print head of the printer to hold and feed the recording medium such that the platen roller and the print head contact the opposite surfaces of the medium. This arrangement also protects the printed image from an adverse influence by a feeding action of the feeding device.

摘要： A sheet feed mechanism has an array of suction cups into and out of contact with an uppermost one of stacked sheets in a sheet cassette. After the suction cups are held against the uppermost sheet, a vacuum is developed in the suction cups to enable the suction cups to attract the uppermost sheet. Then, the suction cups are lifted with the uppermost sheet attracted thereto, and a leading end of the attracted and lifted uppermost sheet is nipped, and the sheet is delivered into a sheet feed path. When the suction cups are lifted, they are angularly moved about an axis to cause the leading end of the attracted uppermost sheet to be obliquely separated from other stacked sheets.
