摘要： In an image display apparatus, information on a direction in which an image is to be displayed on a display panel is recorded in a memory card, and a to-be-displayed image signal corresponding to the displaying-direction information read from the memory card is displayed on the display panel. The displaying-direction information relates to a direction in which the image is to be displayed on the display panel. More particularly, it is information indicative of a direction designated by the user of the apparatus pressing a rotate button on an operation panel and in which image information initially read from the memory card is displayed on the display panel. Pressing the rotate button a maximum of three times for one image will rotate the image clockwise, for example, whereby it is possible to designate a desired direction in which the image is to be displayed. Thus an image can be displayed in a correct direction even with no designation for an image's normal direction regardless of whether the image display apparatus itself is placed with the shorter or longer side down.

摘要： An image-processing apparatus displays different UI pictures suitable for the resolutions in accordance with aspect ratios 16:9 and 4:3, respectively. UI picture data to form a UI picture is divided into wide-mode parts only used when the wide mode is set, normal-mode parts only used when the normal mode is set, and common parts shared between both modes. The divided parts are stored in a storage device. When the wide mode is set, the predetermined widemode parts and the common-parts are selected. When the normal mode is set, the predetermined normal-mode parts and the common parts are selected. The selected parts are mapped in predetermined positions of an effective display screen (image-processing region). Thus, the UI picture is formed. With this arrangement, the advantage of the increased resolution in accordance with an aspect ratio of 16:9 can be effectively utilized. Further, even though the resolution is changed to the wide mode, the displayed UI picture does not appear much different from that which would be displayed in the normal mode, thereby making the user comfortable with the resulting image.

摘要： To provide an input apparatus, a control apparatus, a control system, and a control method that are capable of restricting a movement of a pointer on a screen by a user operation even while the input apparatus is moving. In a state where a movement button is not pressed by a user, an MPU of an input apparatus is not outputting a movement command or is outputting a movement command with a displacement amount set to 0. In other words, even when the user holds the input apparatus and moves it, a pointer does not move on a screen. As a result, a movement of the pointer unintended by the user can be restricted. When the movement button is pressed, that is, when a first operation signal is input via a first switch, the MPU starts outputting the movement command. By receiving the movement command, an MPU of a control apparatus controls display of the pointer so as to start the movement of the pointer that corresponds to the movement command.
