    • In a digital camera that can perform print designation, a print designation file for writing jobs for printing is prepared in a memory card in which image data is recorded, and information for specifying a file to be printed (FILE_ID), file identifying information for identifying whether the file to be printed is a moving image file or a still image file (FILE_TYPE), and information for specifying a scene to be printed in the moving image if the file to be printed is the moving image file (FRAME_NUM), are stored in the print designation file.     • In an apparatus for capturing the image of a user, transforming the image and then printing the transformed image, the user is notified of the manner in which the image will be transformed before the image is printed. To accomplish this, the transformed image of the user is displayed on a monitor display unit before it is printed. Thus the user can verify how the transformed image will look before it is printed. According to another aspect of the invention, when a captured image is transformed and displayed, the user is allowed to set the method of transformation and the degree thereof. To this end, the image of the user is captured and loaded into the image capture apparatus. A screen for setting shape and color transformations is displayed on the display unit of the image capture apparatus. By pressing buttons on the apparatus, the user changes the position and size of a small circle in a setting chart displayed in an area of the display screen. On the basis of intersections between the circumference of the small circle and three lines, defocusing of the captured image of the user, a sepia-tone color conversion and the degree of conversion of the eyes of the image are set.

    • A rust preventive composition including (a) a silicic acid compound and (b) an aromatic amine-based condensation product is provided, which is effective in preventing a Zn-based metallic coating from rusting. Rusting is prevented by forming a coating film contaning the components (a) and (b) on the surface of the Zn-based metallic coating formed on a base such as a metal plate. The resulting coating film exhibits an excellent corrosion resistance, gives no fear of a health problem such as carcinogensis and provides a desirable black or blackish appearance to a metal surface.     • Reduced images are obtained when image data are reproduced and kept at a uniform size while image data representing original images and image data representing reduced images are recorded on a recording medium efficiently. When image data are recorded on a memory card having a recording capacity of less than 50 megabytes, the original-image data are subsampled at a prescribed subsampling ratio to obtain reduced-image data. The reduced-image data and data representing the numbers of pixels of the reduced image in the horizontal and vertical directions thereof are recorded in the header area of the memory card. At playback, the reduced-image data and the numbers of pixels of the reduced image in the horizontal and vertical directions recorded on the memory card are read from the memory card. On the basis of the data representing the numbers of pixels of the reduced image in its horizontal and vertical directions, interpolation processing or subsampling processing is applied to the reduced-image data in such a manner that the reduced image takes on a fixed size. When the reduced-image data that have been subjected to the interpolation or subsampling processing are applied to a display unit, the reduced image having the fixed size is displayed in prompt fashion.

    • A picture recording apparatus includes a first storage having storing units, or clusters, each of which has a predetermined capacity for accommodating video data, and thereby writing video data in the first storage on a cluster basis. An inputting section receives video data to be stored in the first storage. A second storage stores in a predetermined order address data each designating, from among the clusters of the first storage, a particular unoccupied cluster. A controller searches, before writing video data in the first storage, for unoccupied clusters and writes in the second storage first address data which designate clusters necessary for accommodating the video data. A data amount determining section determines the amount of video data outputted by the inputting section and outputs, when the amount of video data matches a single cluster, a first signal for commanding the writing of the video data to the next cluster and a second signal for inhibiting the outputting operation of the inputting section. An address generating section is responsive to the first signal for reading address data representative of the next storing unit out of the second storage, generates a real address on the basis of the address data, and feeds the real address to the first storage. A selecting section selects either one of the output signals of the address generating section and inputting section and selectively feeds either one of the selected output signals and the address data outputted by the controller to the first storage.
