摘要： A liquid crystal display aimed at improving response speed, movie characteristics and viewing angle dependence of gradation is provided as having a liquid crystal panel including a plurality of gate lined selecting pixels and a plurality of data lines supplying pixel data, and a data driver dividing one frame into a plurality of fields to thereby convert a frame data into a field data, and supplying the field data to the data line, wherein in the last field out of the plurality of fields, the data line is applied with a first constant voltage, for the frame data ranging from the minimum gradation value to a first gradation value, and in the top field out of the plurality of fields, the data line is applied with a second constant voltage larger than the first constant voltage, for the frame data ranging from a second gradation value to the maximum gradation value.

摘要： A lighting unit and a liquid crystal display device which can improve the efficiency of usable light. The lighting unit includes a light source, a light guide plate, and a truncated pyramid located between the light guide plate and the light source. The truncated pyramid has a base, a top smaller than the base, and a slope linking the base and the top. The light source is placed in close contact with the top of the truncated pyramid, and the light guide plate is placed in close contact with the base of the truncated pyramid. Light is propagated from a light emitting part of the light source to the light guide plate without passing through any air layer. Also, an unnecessary light removing structure is provided in the light guide plate near the incidence surface thereof.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes a panel having pixel electrodes arranged at intersections of a plurality of signal lines via switching elements for transmitting display data and a plurality of scanning lines for transmitting control signals, and a control circuit for controlling the panel. The liquid crystal panel is divided into first pixel regions and second pixel regions adjacent to the first pixel regions. The control circuit carries out impulse driving in which the control signals transmitted to each of the scanning lines are activated two times in one frame period for displaying an image. The control circuit writes the display data in either one of the pixel regions and writes reset data in the other pixel regions when the control signals are activated once of the two times. By writing the reset data in the pixel regions, the display data written in an immediately preceding frame are reset. In consecutive frames, the display data written in the pixel regions are always reset in one frame period. Therefore, blurring in a moving image can be alleviated. Since writing the display data and the reset data is carried out separately in the first pixel regions and in the second pixel regions, flicker is prevented from occurring in a display screen.
