    • A system for treating a target tissue includes (a) an instrument head sized and shaped for insertion into a hollow organ of a living body, the instrument head including a working chamber movable between an open position in which the working chamber is exposed to an exterior of the head and a closed position in which the working chamber is substantially sealed with respect to an exterior of the instrument head, the instrument head including a first imaging device having a field of view extending distally of a distal end thereof and a second imaging device having a field of view within the working chamber; (b) a handle which, during use, remains outside the living body, the handle including an actuator; (c) a steering mechanism coupled to the actuator for steering the instrument head within the hollow organ based on actuation of the actuator; and (d) a controller coupled to the first and second imaging devices for processing the image data received from the first and second imaging devices and providing images to an operator.

    • Guidewire-deliverable devices and methods of using the devices for separating adjacent layers of tissue and for delivering a surgical prosthesis to an operating site. A guidewire-deliverable cannula provides an elongate window for accessing the operating site with a tissue-separating device. The tissue-separating device may include one of several types of an inflatable balloon or a tissue-dissecting member. The tissue-separating balloon may simultaneously deliver the prosthesis during tissue separation and may further be detached to remain with the prosthesis over the operating site. Alternatively, the prosthesis may be separately provided after the adjacent layers of tissue have been separated.

    • Method for continuously extruding powdered, comminuted, or particulated feed material with a Conform extrusion machine or the like in cooperation with a forming wheel rotatably disposed within a portion of the Conform wheel to compress the feed material into a compacted feedstock. Compressing of the feed material into a compacted feedstock enables uniform and reliable conveyance of the feed material into the extrusion machine without unnecessarily subjecting the compressed feedstock to air or oxygen. An auxiliary shoe member conforming to the outer periphery of the forming wheel and to the Conform shoe enables separation of the compacted feedstock from the forming wheel. The auxiliary shoe directs the compacted feedstock into a passageway formed by the Conform machine extrusion wheel and extrusion shoe. As the respective wheels are rotated the forces on the compacted feedstock heat it and cause it to yield and flow through an extrusion chamber adjacent the Conform machine abutment; it is then extruded from a die in the wall of the chamber. A temperature control system in heat exchanging relationship with the chamber in proximity to the die maintains a desired temperature uniformity in the chamber material to provide uniformity of grain size in the extruded product. Temperature control systems may also be provided for the feed material and for metallurgical control of the extruded product.
