摘要： Immunization against dental caries by local administration, in the vicinity of the oral mucosa of an animal susceptible to dental caries, of a vaccine containing a polyfructan or polyglucan polysaccharide, or a levansucrase or dextransucrase enzyme. The polysaccharides may be administered in purified form, or may be in the form of dead cells of the streptococci by which they are elaborated. Polyglucan polysaccharides so useful are produced by elaboration of strains of the species S.mutans and S.sanquis, while the polyfructan which may be incorporated in the vaccine may be an elaboration product of Streptomyces Strain SS2.

摘要： An anti-staining, antibacterial dentifrice comprises an anti-staining effective amount of an orally acceptable polymer or copolymer that comprises a plurality of monomeric groups of formula (I) wherein (a) one of A and A′ is hydrogen and the other is a moiety (X)n(R)m, (b) n in individual such moieties is independently 0 or 1, (c) linking groups X if present independently comprise an oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, phosphorus or silicon atom, (d) where n is 0, m is 1, and where n is 1, m is independently an integer from 1 to 3 as determined by X, (e) terminal groups R are independently hydrogen or C1-18 organic radicals, and (f) M and M′ are independently selected from hydrogen, alkali metal and ammonium; said polymer or copolymer having an average molecular weight of at least about 1,000. The dentifrice further comprises an antibacterial effective amount of an orally acceptable halogenated diphenylether antibacterial agent, and an antibacterial enhancing effective amount of an orally acceptable polyvinylmethylether/maleic anhydride copolymer.

摘要： A composition and method is disclosed for fluoridating teeth using a two component dentifrice system in which the first component is stable, semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a fluoride ion releasable hydrolyzable complex fluoride compound such as sodium fluorosilicate, in an aqueous vehicle in which a carrageenan gum having major kappa and lambda forms as the primary thickening agent and the abrasive is a silica providing an acid pH when slurried with water, and the second component is a semi-solid, extrudable dentifrice composition containing a calcium ion releasable compound and the abrasive and carrageenan gum in an aqueous vehicle. The first and second dentifrice compounds are maintained separate from the other until mixed for application to teeth.
