摘要： A unique golf ball and related methods of manufacturing are disclosed in which the golf ball comprises one or more mantle layers comprising one or more metals, ceramic, or composite materials. Composite materials include silicone carbide, glass, carbon, boron carbide, aramid materials, cotton, flax, jute, hemp, silk, and combinations thereof. The golf ball may also comprise an optional polymeric spherical substrate inwardly disposed relative to the one or more mantle layers. The golf balls according to the present invention exhibit improved spin, feel, and acoustic properties. Furthermore, the one or more interior mantle layers prevent, or at least significantly minimize, coefficient of restitution loss from the golf ball, while also significantly increasing the moment of inertia of the golf ball.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a golf ball comprising a soft core and a hard cover such that the golf ball, when struck such as in play, exhibits a reduced spin rate. The cover may include a single cover layer or multiple cover layers. In a particularly preferred aspect, the golf ball comprises a mantle or inner layer that defines a hollow interior. The hollow mantle along with one or more resilient outer core layers constitutes the soft core. The golf ball of the present invention may also utilize an enlarged diameter which serves to further reduce spin rate. The resulting golf ball exhibits properties of reduced spin without sacrificing durability, playability and resilience.

In the second embodiment, the five adjacent triangles having common polar vertices are retained on either side of the equatorial line of the ball. Five smaller triangles on either side of the equator include vertices common with each adjacent set of the five triangles, with the legs opposite such vertices being substantially parallel with but terminating short of the equatorial line of the ball. The legs parallel with the equator extend about the ball so as to form five trapezoids which have common sides with the alternate with the five small triangles. In the preferred embodiment, the edge radius of the dimples is greater than the standard edge radius.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a golf ball comprising a dual core component, an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer. The dual core comprises an interior spherical center component formed from a thermoset material, a thermoplastic material, or combinations thereof. The dual core also comprises a core layer disposed about the center component, formed from a thermoset material, a thermoplastic material, or combinations thereof. The one or more polyurethane layers are preferably formed via a reaction injection molding (RIM) technique. The inner cover layer is relatively soft and preferably comprises an ionomer or ionomer blend. The outer cover layer is relatively hard and comprises a hard polyurethane. The resulting multi-layered golf ball of the present invention provides for enhanced distance without sacrificing playability or durability when compared to known multi-layer golf balls.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a solid, non-wound, golf ball comprising two or more core components, and a cover component. The core components comprise i) a small, inner, high density, spherical center component comprising a blend of powdered metal and a first matrix material; and, ii) an outer core layer disposed about the spherical center component, formed from a second matrix material. The golf ball may further comprise a second or additional outer core layer(s) that surround the first outer core layer. The cover may be single or multi-layered. For a multi-layered cover, the inner cover layer is comprised of a hard, high modulus material and the outer cover layer is comprised of a soft, very low modulus material and/or a non-ionomeric thermoplastic elastomer such as polyurethane, polyester or polyetheramide. Separately, the inner and/or outer cover layers are very thin in construction. The resulting golf ball of the present invention provides for enhanced playability characteristics (i.e., spin and feel) without sacrificing distance or durability properties.

A sheeter forms sheets of golf ball core stock and has a sheeter inlet proximate the mixer outlet and a sheeter outlet. A preform shaper forms golf ball core preforms from the sheets of golf ball core stock.
