    • Systems and methods are disclosed for emotive healthcare software usability. A method to improve software usability is described, the method comprising presenting a software application to a user. The method also including logging activities of the user with respect to the software application, wherein the logging includes recording the user using the software application, and wherein the activities include user action with respect to the software application and mouse location on a user interface displaying the software application. The method also including interpreting user emotion from the recording, and tracking an emotive index based on a combination of user emotion and user action with respect to the software application and mouse location. The method also including providing feedback based on the emotive index.

    • A biometric sample training device, a biometric sample quality assessment device, a biometric fusion recognition device, an integrated biometric fusion recognition system and example processes in which each may be used are described. Wavelets and a boosted classifier are used to assess the quality of biometric samples, such as facial images. The described biometric sample quality assessment approach provides accurate and reliable quality assessment values that are robust to various degradation factors, e.g., such as pose, illumination, and lighting in facial image biometric samples. The quality assessment values allow biometric samples of different sample types to be combined to support complex recognition techniques used by, for example, biometric fusion devices, resulting in improved accuracy and robustness in both biometric authentication and biometric recognition.

The method includes: receiving a first short message sent to a recipient user terminal, where the first short message carries sender information and recipient information of the short message; selecting, according to the sender information and recipient information of the first short message, a short message icon identifier to be displayed by the recipient user terminal; and sending a second short message to the recipient user terminal, where the second short message carries the selected short message icon identifier so that the recipient user terminal displays, according to the selected short message icon identifier, a short message icon corresponding to the selected short message icon identifier. The present disclosure enables more convenient and flexible displaying of a short message icon.

    • Negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) or auxetic are used to make lightweight wheels and runflat tires. The NPR tires can be tailored and functionally-designed to optimally meet the runflat requirements for both military and commercial vehicles. NPR-runflat tires may be fabricated using standard materials and simple manufacturing processes, resulting in low-cost and high-volume production. In preferred embodiments the runflat tire designs are fully compatible with Central Tire Inflation Systems (CTIS), while providing a performance equivalent to current military vehicle solutions but at half the weight. An auxetic wheel according to the invention comprises a line defining an axis of rotation; and a plurality of concentric rings of unit cells surrounding the axis, each unit cell being constructed of a plurality of members defining a Negative Poisson's Ratio (NPR) structure. The outermost ring of unit cells is arranged to facilitate rolling terrain contact, such that the stiffness of the structure in the localized region of loading due to terrain contact increases as the wheel rotates. A layer of material may be disposed between the concentric rings of unit cells which in preferred embodiments comprise a plurality of nested-V shapes. A cover may be provided over the outermost ring of unit cells forming a tire which may, or may not, be inflated.
