    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal efficiency required for agglomeration and to decrease the amt. of blast furnace raw materials by mixing high-water-of- crystallization powdery iron are with converter slag in a molten state and forming easily disintegratable slag bond lumps by utilizing the dehydration behavior of the iron ore. SOLUTION: The iron ore 4 contg. >=5% water of crystallization is charged form mid-way of a downflow through 3 to a slug pit 2 of the converter slag 1 in the molten state and is agglomerated. The cooled agglomerate ore 7 is delivered by a shovel car 5, etc., and is used as a part of the blast furnace raw materials. At this time, the mixing ratio of the powdery iron ore and the slag is so set as to satisfy the conditions of the equation. The powdery high- water-of-crystallization iron ore includes pellet feeds of a diameter of =5% of the water of crystallization. The slag having basicit of about 2 to 4 is used.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the non-destructive detection of an invading melt and a lining thickness to be performed by opposing two sensor heads each composed of a distance detector, a coil wherein a high frequency current flows and a coil for producing an induced voltage to the side wall and the bottom of a lining refractory and converting the induced voltage to a ground metal information signal while revolving the sensor heads. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral surface of a ladle iron plate 18 lined by a refractory 19 is encircled by struts 17 having a rail 8 on their tops and a vertically moving arm 2 having a driving device 3 on its top end is vertically mounted to a turning bar 6 that turns on the rail 8. Sensor heads 1a and 1b which are opposed to the side wall and the bottom of the refractory 19, respectively, are provided on the lower end of the arm 2. Each sensor 1a or 1b is constituted by a distance detector 26 composed of a distance detecting rod 21, a coil wherein high frequency current flows and a coil for producing an induced voltage. A detector is thus constituted, the positions of the heads 1a and 1b are moved, the induced voltage is converted to electric signals and the presence of a melt 20 that has invaded into the refractory 19 and a reduction in the thickness of the refractory 19 are detected.
