    • A cleaning mechanism for cleaning a print head in an inkjet printer with the print head having ink nozzles for discharging ink including a drive control unit which operates the cleaning mechanism at a first process level or a second process level that consumes less ink than the first process level; a timer which counts the elapsed time passed in which the print head is in a no-printing state; and a process selection unit responsive to a predetermined input cleaning command for selecting the first process level when the no-printing state has continued for less than a predetermined time or the second process level when the no-printing state has continued for greater than the predetermined time, based on the value of the timer when the predetermined input cleaning command is received. The predetermined input cleaning command can be received from a cleaning button or from a host computer. The drive control unit operates the cleaning mechanism at the process level selected by the process selection unit according to the predetermined input cleaning command.

    • An insulator body 310 is held in a semicylindrical metallic cover 320. The insulator body includes a main body portion having a planar plate-like contact support 312 extending forwardly from the front end of the main body portion. A plurality of narrow strip contacts 330 are arranged on the opposite plate surfaces of the support 312. Key bosses 314, 345 extend forwardly from the insulator body 310 in such a fashion as to sandwich the contact support 312 therebetween. A part of an annular groove is defined between key bosses 314, 345 and metallic cover 320 for receiving a tubular metallic cover of a connector plug. The key boss 314 has a keyway formed in the surface thereof opposing the contact support 312 The connector provides for accommodating an increased number of contacts and preventing coupling between different types of connectors, and allows for reducing the size of the connector.

    • A rebound-type hardness tester comprises a tubular member and an indenter hammer for undergoing axial movement therein in forward and rearward directions and for impacting a specimen and rebounding therefrom. A first detecting device detects the indenter hammer during movement thereof in the forward and rearward directions. A second detecting device detects the indenter hammer after detection thereof by the first detection device during movement of the indenter hammer in the forward direction, and detects the indenter hammer before detection thereof by the first detection device during movement of the indenter hammer in the rearward direction. A measuring device measures first and second timing values corresponding to different times elapsed from the detection of the indenter hammer by the first and second detection devices. A calculating device calculates an impacting velocity and a rebounding velocity of the indenter hammer in accordance with the first and second timing values and a distance between the first and second detecting devices. A processing device calculates a hardness of the specimen in accordance with the impacting velocity and the rebounding velocity calculated by the calculating device.

    • A connecting terminal of electrically conductive material is in the form of a flat plate having first and second tabs which are stamped from the plate and bent upwardly from the same surface of the plate. The first tab is reversely bent to overlie the plate in spaced substantially parallel relation thereto for receiving an insulated wire and the second tab is disposed at an acute angle to the plate and is directed opposite to the first tab for anchoring the free end of the wire to the terminal. The first tab is provided with an elongated slot in the bent portion thereof so that on subsequent clamping of the wire by the application of pressure by opposed electrodes and the passage of current through the electrodes, the insulation will be burned off the wire under the first tab. The elongated slot allows for the escape of gasses and burned insulation material so as to insure a good electrical connection between the conductive core of the wire and the terminal.

    • The invention provides a shield case to cover a body, the body having a main body and first and second connecting portions projecting from the main body and lying adjacent to each other along a first direction. The shield case includes first to forth conductive shells. The first and second shells cover an outer circumference of the main body; the third shell covers the first connecting portion; and the fourth shell covers the second connecting portion. The third shell is in contact with at least one of the first and second shells. The first or fourth shell is in contact with the second shell. The fourth shell is provided integrally with the first shell and is adjacent to the third shell along the first direction.
