摘要： To provide means for editing a content data stream quickly.A data processor according to the present invention can edit a content that has been written on a medium. The content is stored in a file as a data stream including multiple packets of the same packet size. And a file system for accessing data on a cluster size basis has been established on the medium. The data processor includes: a receiving section, which receives an instruction on a partial deletion range including the beginning of the file; and a media control section for deleting data, the size of which is an integral number of times as large as the least common multiple of the cluster size and the packet size, from the beginning of the file within the partial deletion range.

摘要： The present invention provides a recording apparatus that generates a transport stream so that a boundary between recording units (aligned units) and a file division point (i.e., a boundary between GOPs) always coincide with each other without obtaining information on the file size or the like. When generating a transport stream by time-division multiplexing transport packets, n or more transport packets (e.g., null packets N) other than a video packet are inserted between a video packet group generated from a single encoding unit (GOP) and a video packet group subsequent to the video packet group. When d indicates the data length of the transport packet, h indicates the data length of a fixed-length header added to each of the transport packets before being recorded on a data recording medium, and L indicates a recording unit length to the data recording medium, L≦(n+1)×(d+h) is satisfied.

摘要： The data processor of the present invention can play back video and audio synchronously from an optical disk, on which video and audio data are stored in different areas. Each area consists of one or more unit areas. The data processor includes: a playback control section for giving instructions on how to read the video and audio data and how to play back the video and audio based on the read data; a head for reading the data from one of the unit areas after another in accordance with the instructions; and audio and video buffers for retaining the audio and video data read. The playback control section instructs that the audio data be read from a predetermined one of the unit areas to the audio buffer memory, and then instructs that the video data, which is to be played back over first and second periods of time, be read from a number n (where n is an integer equal to or greater than two) of unit areas to the video buffer. The first period of time is (n+2) times as long as the maximum amount of time to move the head, and the second period of time is taken to read the audio data from the next unit area.

Specifically, the file allocation table (FAT) of a storage medium is supposed to be read on a partial FAT basis and data is written by a preferred method for that reading method.A data processor writes a content data stream on a storage medium, on which a data storage location is defined based on a file allocation table (FAT). The processor includes: a control section for determining the amount of data to be read continuously until a portion of the data stream, which should be played back during a data stream reading suspended period, is acquired, the suspended period including at least a time for reading a partial FAT forming a part of the FAT; an area detecting section for detecting an available area, in which that amount of data is storable, from a partial area managed by a single partial FAT; and a writing section for writing the content data stream on the available area, whereby the data stream is readable, and the content is playable, based on the partial FAT.
