    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent visual angle characteristic, contrast and high- temp. reliability by forming the size of a liquid crystal layer to the same size as the size of pixels and curing a polymerizable resin material at the temp. at which the one liquid crystal layer exists independently within a pixel region. SOLUTION: A pair of substrates 1 having electrode films are first stuck to each other. A mixture contg. liquid crystals, a polymerizable resin material and a polymn. initiator is then held between these substrates 1. Next, the liquid crystal layer is precipitated by fluctuating the temp. of the mixture. Next, the precipitated liquid crystal layer is grown. The polymerizable resin material is then cured at the temp. at which the size of the liquid crystal layer attains >=80% of the size of the pixels and the one liquid crystal layer exists independently within the pixel region 4. The method for controlling the size of the liquid crystal layer to the size above 80% of the size of the pixels includes a method for controlling the liquid crystal layer by executing only the heating of the mixture contg. the liquid crystals, the polymerizable resin material and the polymn. initiator, a method for precipitating the liquid crystal layer by cooling the mixture after heating, thereby growing the liquid crystal layer, etc.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the unequal coating of a smoothing layer and to decrease the variations of display by disposing a uniform layer between color filter layers and the smoothing layer. SOLUTION: The color filters 2 are formed on a transparent substrate 1. The color filters 2 have color filter parts 2a to 2c corresponding respectively to red R, green G, blue B. A resist is applied on the transparent substrate 1 and is then exposed and developed, by which projection walls 3 consisting of the resist are formed. The uniform layer 4 is formed on the substrate having the projecting walls 3 by forming the film of a transparent material by a dry process plating method, such as sputtering or vapor deposition. The smoothing layer 5 of a recessed shape is formed on the color filter parts 2a to 2c for the purpose of the projecting walls 3 formed with the uniform layer 4. Further, transparent electrodes 6 are formed on the smoothing layer 5 formed on the substrate. The uniform layer 4 makes the surface free energy on the color filters R, G, B uniform and further make it possible to unify the surface shapes. The wettability of the color filters is thus made uniform.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color filter substrate with which the control of the position of the symmetrical axis of axisymmetrical orientation is possible by having lower layer consisting of a material having high affinity to the material of colored layer and upper layer consisting of a material having a low affinity on the projecting part and forming the surface of the colored layer as recessed surfaces. SOLUTION: The lower layer 23 0f the projecting part 34 is formed on a glass substrate 22 by using a material having a high affinity to ink which is the material of the colored layer 25 to be formed afterward. Next, the upper layer 14 is formed by using a material having a low affinity to the ink on the lower layer 23. Next, the ink is adhered to the parts corresponding to the picture element regions between the projecting parts 34 by a bubble jet method, etc., to form the colored layers 25. At this time, the flank of the lower layer 23 is wetted with the ink and, therefore, the surface of the ink are recessed by meniscus. After the ink is dried, an overcoating layer 26 and further a counter electrode 27 consisting of a transparent conductive material are formed on the colored layer 25 having the recessed surface to obtain the color filter substrate 30 having the conical recessed parts 33.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic apparatus which enables many persons to simultaneously and commonly use a display without moving an electronic apparatus body by orienting the orientation state of the liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal display panel to >=2 directions on at least one substrate and providing the apparatus freely rotatably with the display section. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 and an input device 2 are connected by a coupling part and a joint for joining. The angle (α) formed by the display screen surface of the liquid crystal display device 1 and the input surface of the input device 2 is made freely rotatable from a close position 0 deg. to the max. open position, approximately 360 deg.. As a result, the angle αformed by the display screen surface of the liquid crystal display device 1 and the input surface of the input device 2 is settable to meet the optimum viewing angle direction for an operator. The wide visual angle display mode of the liquid crystal display element is embodied by using such liquid crystal display mode in which the liquid crystal molecules are oriented to >=2 directions. The working attitude of the operator may be provided with degrees of freedom even if the display is used for one person. The simultaneous and common use of the display with many persons is possible as well.
