    • Provided is a bipedal walking robot which includes a linear actuator, which connects a crus link and a foot of each leg away from an ankle joint, for driving the foot to rock around the ankle joint with respect to the crus link according to a telescopic motion thereof. The robot is capable of applying a desired moment to the foot for walking on stairs without increasing the linear actuator in size. The linear actuator is disposed in such a way that a telescopic force therefrom acts on a line inclined backward with respect to a connection line connecting a knee joint and the ankle joint. Preferably, a connection portion, which is connected to the crus link, of the linear actuator is disposed backward from the connection line, and a connection portion, which is connected to the foot, of the linear actuator is disposed forward from the connection line.

    • A swash-plate type compressor having a housing, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the housing, a swash-plate slantly secured on the drive shaft, and a plurality of pistons fitted in a cylinder bore formed in correspondence to each of the pistons parallelly to the drive shaft and provided with a pair of concave spherical surface formed therein. Each of the pistons is engaged with the swash-plate via a pair of shoes of substantially semi-spherical shape. The shoe has a convex spherical surface which is in sliding contact with the concave spherical surface of the piston and a flat-side surface which is in sliding contact with the swash-plate. The flat-side surface consists of a chamfered surface annularly formed on the outer portion thereof and a centrally left substantially flat surface with a diameter as large as about 60-90% of that of the whole flat-side surface. The substantially flat surface is formed into an extremely gentle convex surface with a height less than 15 .mu.m at the peak located in the center thereof. The whole surface of the shoe is covered by a solid lubricating film.

    • A swash plate type compressor for use in air conditioning systems operating with a refrigerant gas in which lubricating oil is previously mixed, comprises a plurality of cylinder bores and pistons, a swash plate chamber wherein a swash plate for reciprocating the pistons within the cylinder bores, is accomodated, a plurality of suction passages communicated with the swash plate chamber, suction chambers and exhaust chambers communicated with the cylinder bores, respectively and at least one sub-suction chamber communicated with the suction chambers through a shaft seal chamber wherein a shaft seal member is accomodated.At least one suction passage which is communicated with the swash plate chamber in the bottom portion thereof is communicated with the sub-suction chamber and the other suction passages are communicated with the suction chambers.The refrigerant gas and liquid oil stayed in the bottom portion of the swash plate chamber is flowed into the shaft seal chamber through the suction passage which is communicated with the bottom portion of the swash plate chamber, and subsuction chamber.The refrigerant gas and liquid oil lubricates and cools the shaft seal member accomodated within the shaft seal chamber and is atomized due to the operation of the shaft seal member.Then, the atomized refrigerant gas is flowed into each of the cylinder bores through the suction chambers.Therefore, the refrigerant gas is uniformly compressed within each of the cylinder bores without generating liquid compression.

    • A cam plate is mounted on a drive shaft in a crank chamber. A plurality of pistons are operably coupled to the cam plate. The rotation of the drive shaft is converted to a linear reciprocal movement to compress and discharge refrigerant gas containing oil mist. An extracting passage extracts the refrigerant gas from the crank chamber to remove an excessive pressure in the crank chamber. The extracting passage is open to an accommodating chamber which receives the refrigerant gas from the passage. A bearing is disposed in the accommodating chamber and receives an axial load acting on the drive shaft. A bolt absorbs an assembly tolerance of the bearing. A first protuberance is provided on the bearing protruding in a radial direction with respect to the drive shaft so as to become aligned with the passage. The first protuberance engages an inner surface of the accommodating chamber to prevent rotation of the bearing.
