The playback device has a demodulator and a control unit (56) for retrieving the code from at least two tracks.

摘要： For some video processing applications, most notably watermark detection (40), it is necessary to add or average (parts of) the two interlaced fields which make up a frame. This operation is not trivial in the MPEG domain due to the existence of frame-encoded DCT blocks. The invention provides a method and arrangement for adding the fields without requiring a frame memory or an on-the-fly inverse DCT. To this end, the mathematically required operations of inverse vertical DCT (321) and addition (322) are combined with a basis transform (323). The basis transform is chosen to be such that the combined operation is physically replaced by multiplication with a sparse matrix (32). Said sparse matrix multiplication can easily be executed on-the-fly. The inverse basis transform (35) is postponed until after the desired addition (33, 34) has been completed.

摘要： An MPEG video stream generator, which contains several slightly different programs, each with approximately the same content. The MPEG stream is constructed in such a manner that a simple transcoder can effectively select one of the programs. This is achieved by storing the differences relative to the default program in selected user data fields. The transcoder is little more than an MPEG bitstream parser, which replaces the bits corresponding to selected set of macroblocks by the replacement data stored in the user data fields. A standard MPEG decoder without any knowledge of the embedded user data fields will simply extracted the default program. One application relates to broadcasting of a television program with or without a logo, or a commercial with or without a public warning. Another application relates to copy-protection schemes. In such a scheme, the default program contains a ticket indicating that the contents may be copied once. Upon recording, this ticket is removed and replaced by the content accommodated in the user data field.

摘要： A certifying authority provides a method for whitelist-based controlling of authentication of a first device ( 102 ) in a system ( 100 ) to a second device ( 103 ). The method comprises issuing to the first device ( 102 ) a group certificate identifying a range of non-revoked device identifiers, said range encompassing the device identifier of the first device ( 102 ). Preferably the device identifiers correspond to leaf nodes in a hierarchically ordered tree, and the group certificate identifies a node ( 202 - 207 ) in the tree representing a subtree in which the leaf nodes correspond to said range. The group certificate can also identify a further node ( 308, 310, 312 ) in the subtree which represents a sub-subtree in which the leaf nodes correspond to revoked device identifiers. Alternatively, the device identifiers are selected from a sequentially ordered range, and the group certificate identifies a subrange of the sequentially ordered range, said subrange encompassing the whitelisted device identifiers.
