    • PURPOSE:To produce a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having excellent magnetic characteristics by subjecting a silicon steel slab having the specific compsn. contg. C, Si, Mn, S and Se to hot rolling and cold rolling under specific conditions then to decarburization and recrystallization annealing and annealing for dulling. CONSTITUTION:The slab for the silicon steel consisting of the compsn. contg. 0.02-0.08wt% C, 2.0-4.5% Si, 0.01-0.10% Mn and 0.0050-0.10% at least one kind of either S and Se is hot rolled and is then subjected to one pass or two passes of cold rolling including intermediate annealing to the final sheet thickness. The cold rolled sheet is thereafter subjected to decarburization and primary recrystallization annealing in wet hydrogen. A separating agent for annealing consisting essentially of MgO is coated on the surface and such sheet is subjected to secondary recrystallization annealing followed by annealing for dulling. The above-mentioned hot rolling is executed under the conditions of =0.27 coefft. of friction between rolling rolls and ingot and >=30% draft. The integration degree of the Goss orientations in the surface layer of the hot rolled sheet is thereby increased and the grain oriented silicon steel sheet having the excellent magnetic characteristics is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To roll efficiently and continuously a steel strip through one process by heating the strip, rolled into the intermediate sheet-thickness to a specific temperature to maintain the strip at said temperature on the way of rolling, and cooling it to roll under a specific rolling reduction at the next and subsequent stands in continuously cold rolling the strip by multi-high tandem mills. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 6 is uncoiled from an uncoiler 1, and the tail end of a preceding strip and the front end of a succeeding strip are joined together into a joined strip 6 by a welder 2. A steel strip storing device 3 stores the fixed amount of strip because the rolling is continued even when the welding is operated. The strip 6 delivered from the device 3 is rolled in sequence into the intermediate sheet-thickness by the mills #1-#3. Next, the strip 6 is heated by a heat treatment device 7 and is maintained at the temperature of 200-400 deg.C for a proper time, before it is cooled to the temperature suitable for cold rolling. After finishing the heat treatment, the strip 6 is successively rolled under >=20% rolling reduction by the next stand #4 and subsequent ones into the prescribed thickness and is wound up in sequence by coiler 5.
