    • A construction structure includes a substrate made of a concrete material and having an external surface, and an external reinforcement attachment. The attachment includes an outwardly facing surface and an inwardly facing surface and has a non-uniform cross-sectional area along the reinforcement attachment. The reinforcement attachment is secured to the substrate with the inwardly facing surface bonded to the external surface of the substrate. The reinforcement attachment has at least first portions and second portions, the two portions are treated such that the first portions have a greater cross-sectional area than the second portions for increasing yield strength of the first portions whereby when the construction structure is under stress the first portions block or reduce spreading of strain sustained by the reinforcement attachment to avoid or at least delay complete detachment of attachment from the substrate.

    • An encoding manager facilitates robust single-pass variable bit rate video encoding of a video sequence. Before encoding the video sequence, the encoding manager determines the size of a buffer to use for keeping track of over/under used bits generated during encoding. The encoding manager uses the target bit rate for the video sequence and the length of the video sequence to determine the size of the buffer. After allocating bits to a frame of the sequence, the encoding manager determines the quant to use to encode that frame. The determination of a quant to use to encode a frame is informed by the fullness of the buffer. The encoding manager adjusts the quant to use (and thus the aggressiveness of its encoding) in response to the amount of overflow generated thus far by the encoding of the video sequence.

    • A method and system for generating a spatial signature for a frame of a video object. The method includes obtaining a frame associated with a video object, and dividing the frame into a plurality of blocks. The plurality of blocks corresponds to a plurality of locations respectively, each of the plurality of blocks includes a plurality of pixels, and the plurality of pixels corresponds to a plurality of pixel values respectively. Additionally, the method includes determining a plurality of average pixel values for the plurality of blocks respectively. Each of the plurality of blocks corresponds to one of the plurality of average pixel values. Moreover, the method includes processing information associated with the plurality of average pixel values and determining a plurality of comparison values for the plurality of blocks respectively based on at least information associated with the plurality of average pixel values.
