    • The present invention relates to a plasma display panel, more particularly to a plasma display panel including a plasma pipe. A plasma display panel according to the present invention comprises a plurality of polygonal plasma pipes having a fluorescent substance inside; a first electrode disposed in the perpendicular direction of the plasma pipes; and a second electrode disposed in the perpendicular direction of the first electrode and disposed in the horizontal direction of the plasma pipes. The present invention is able to lower a firing voltage and to decrease a power consumption by enlarging the overlapping area with electrodes through including a polygonal plasma pipe.

    • The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus including an energy recovery circuit capable of maximizing driving efficiency, and driving method thereof. The plasma display apparatus of the present invention includes a plasma display panel having an electrode, an energy supply and recovery unit for dividing a source voltage source to supply the energy of a first voltage higher than a reference voltage and to supply the energy of a second voltage lower than the reference voltage, a path select controller for establishing a path so that the energy of the first voltage is supplied to the electrode through resonance and establishing a path so that the energy of the second voltage is recovered from the electrode through resonance, and a voltage sustain unit for applying a third voltage to the electrode after the energy of the first voltage has been supplied to the electrode through resonance and applying a fourth voltage to the electrode after the energy of the second voltage has been recovered from the electrode through resonance. According to the present invention, the energy supply and recovery unit supplies energy greater than the reference voltage and recovers energy lower than the reference voltage. Accordingly, driving efficiency can be improved.

    • The present invention relates to a plasma display panel, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for driving a plasma display panel. An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes an energy recovery circuit having a first inductor, which is included in a path along which energy is supplied to the panel and resonate with the panel, and a second inductor included in a second path along which energy is recovered from the panel together with the first inductor. Accordingly, a plurality of inductors is serially connected so that an energy supply path and an energy recovery path are separated. It is thus possible to increase driving efficiency without changing a control signal. Further, it is possible to prevent an unnecessary resonance phenomenon by further including a clamping unit.

    • Disclosed herein is an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel in which a gray scale inversion phenomenon can be prevented. According to the present invention, the apparatus for driving the PDP includes an error diffusion unit for diffusing error of data received from an inverse gamma correction unit, a gray scale inversion check unit connected to the inverse gamma correction unit, for checking whether a gray scale value of the data received from the inverse gamma correction unit is a gray scale value where a gray scale inversion phenomenon is generated, and generating a 1-bit control signal according to the check result, an adder disposed between the error diffusion unit and the gray scale inversion check unit, for adding the 1-bit control signal to lower bits of the data received from the error diffusion unit, and a dithering unit for performing dithering by using the lower bits received from the adder. Therefore, when dithering is performed on data where gray scale inversion is generated, a gray scale value can be improved by adding 1 to lowest bits of the data. It is thus possible to prevent the gray scale inversion phenomenon.

    • The present invention is directed to a number of improvements in methods for reliability simulations in aged circuits whose operation has been degraded through hot-carrier or other effects. A plurality of different circuit stress times can be simulated within a single run. Different aging criteria may be used for different circuit blocks, circuit block types, devices, device models and device types. The user may specify the degradation of selected circuit blocks, circuit block types, devices, device models and device types independently of the simulation. Device degradation can be characterized in tables. Continuous degradation levels can be quantized. Techniques are also described for representing the aged device in the netlist as the fresh device augmented with a plurality of independent current sources connected between its terminals to mimic the effects of aging in the device. The use of device model cards with age parameters is also described. To further improve the circuit reliability simulation, a gradual or multi-step aging is used instead of the standard one step aging process. Many of these features can be embedded within the circuit simulator. A user data interface is also presented to implement these techniques and further allow users to enter their device models not presented in the simulator. For example, a proprietary model of, say, the substrate current in an NMOS could used be with a SPICE simulator employing a different model to simulate the aging of the circuit.
