    • A system, method and apparatus is provided that splits a microprocessor load instruction into two (2) parts, a speculative load instruction and a check speculative load instruction. The speculative load instruction can be moved ahead in the instruction stream by the compiler as soon as the address and result registers are available. This is true even when the data to be loaded is not actually required. This speculative load instruction will not cause a fault in the memory if the access is invalid, i.e. the load misses and a token bit is set. The check speculative load instruction will cause the speculative load instruction to be retried in the event the token bit was set equal to one. In this manner, the latency associated with branching to an interrupt routine will be eliminated a significant amount of the time. It is very possible that the reasons for invalidating the speculative load operation are no longer present (e.g. page in memory is not present) and the load will be allowed to complete. Therefore, substantial gains in efficiency and resource utilization can be achieved by deferring the branch to recovery routines until after the speculative load is retried.

    • An apparatus and method for creating instruction groups for explicitly parallel architectures is provided. The apparatus and method gather information about the underlying architecture for use in an instruction group creation phase. The information gathered includes the number of each type of execution unit available and the number of bundles that can be dispatched concurrently by the architecture. The instruction group creation of the present invention includes three phases: a first phase for performing initial grouping, a second phase for hosting instructions from further down in the program instruction order if the instruction is not able to be added during the initial grouping phase, and a third optional phase for counting the number of bundles formed to thereby inform a Just-In-Time compiler of the amount of space need to be allocated in a code buffer.

    • An apparatus and method for simulating the way that selected custom wheels will appear on a vehicle. The method involves creating high quality graphic reproductions of actual commercially available custom wheels and tires in the form of a wheel disc approximating the size of an actual tire and wheel combination. The selected wheel disc is then positioned adjacent a car tire to simulate the appearance of the car with the selected wheel mounted thereon. A plurality of the wheel/tire discs is in one embodiment held on a portable support stand. In an alternate embodiment plural wheel discs are mounted to separate tire rings representing tires of various sizes.

    • Mechanisms of memory management in a real time runtime environment having a garbage collected memory heap are provided. The runtime environment includes a critical real time thread that is precluded from accessing the garbage collected memory heap. The runtime environment further includes a scoped memory area for the allocation of objects therein for access by the critical real time thread. The mechanisms determine whether the critical real time thread currently accessing the scoped memory area is in a defined state so as to accommodate garbage collection of the scoped memory area. The mechanisms further initiate, in response to a determination that the critical real time thread currently accessing the scoped memory area is in the defined state, a process of garbage collection of the scoped memory area.
