    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set rigidity and elasticity at an optional site by a method wherein a medical stent which can be embedded in a celom and is used for a medical treatment of a constricted area, is formed of a Cu-Al-Mn based shape memory alloy of which the formulation ratio is specified, and the property of a gradient function wherein the characteristics of the alloy gradually change, is used. SOLUTION: This stent which dilates to a configuration before a contraction by the release of a stress, and is fixed in a blood vessel or a body cavity, is formed of a copper-based alloy having a composition comprising 5-20 wt.% of Mn, 3-10 wt.% of Al, residual Cu and inevitable impurities. For the copper- based alloy, the total of 0.001-10 wt.% of one kind, or two kinds or more which are selected from Ni, Co, Fe, Ti, V, Cr, Si, Nb, Mo, Sn, Ag, W, Mg, B and a misch metal or the like may be further contained. Also, for the copper-based alloy, one having a shape memory property and a superelasticity is used by molding it by a hot working and/or a cold working, rapidly cooling after holding it is a temperature of 500 deg.C or higher, and applying an aging treatment at a temperature of 200 deg.C or lower.
