    • PURPOSE:To securely simulate the stress state of the piping of an actual machine by using a simple device by applying displacement to the support point of the artificial piping and simulating the actual machine. CONSTITUTION:Test piping which has cracking made by discharge working, etc., is fitted at a specific position of an artificial entrance pipe 11, and a boiler 15 is operated manually so as to obtain the same temperature and pressure with the operation state of a new type converter. In this state, high-temperature, high-pressure water is made to flow through a bias pipe 17. Then frame displacement data is extracted from a frame displacement directory and displacement is caused by a displacement adding mechanism 12 according to the data. Then solenoid valves 110 and 111 are opened to admit the high-temperature, high-pressure water in the pipe 11. In this state, the device is left as it is until the flow in the pipe 11 becomes stable and a solenoid valve 113 is closed to stop the flow of the high-temperature, high-pressure water to the pipe 17. In this state, a solenoid valve 112 is closed to quit the venting from the vent pipe 18 almost at the same time through the operation of a timer after input signals from void meters 50 and 51 decrease below a 50% void rate while the air in an artificial pressure pipe 13 is discharged.

    • PURPOSE:To damp the quantity of gamma rays radiated from a radioactive material adhering to the inner surface of a vessel so as to reduce the exposure of a worker by filling up a pipeline and vessel of high in radiation dose rate with water. CONSTITUTION:Since radioactive materials of Co activated at a reactor core section adhere to whole inner surfaces of primary cooling pipelines 4 and 6 and vessels 3 and 5 of the reactor 1 of an atomic power plant, the whole inner surfaces of the pipelines 4 and 6 and vessels 3 and 5 become radiation sources. Therefore, a worker 11 working in the vicinity of the pipelines 4 and 6 and vessels 3 and 5 is exposed to the radiation radiated from the sources. However, since gamma rays interact with the molecule and atom of a substance and become weaker when the gamma rays are passed through the substance, not only the metallic materials constituting the pipelines 4 and 6 and vessels 3 and 5, but also the fluid contained in the pipelines and vessels can exert shielding effects in accordance with their densities. Therefore, the pipelines 4 and 6 and vessels 3 and 5 which are high in radiation dose rate adjacent to the working area are filled up with a fluid which can effectively shield gamma rays before starting the work. Thus the quantity of exposure of the worker 11 can be reduced.
