    • A machine for producing cross-wound bobbins or cheeses includes winding apparatuses each having a yarn delivery device, yarn guide devices disposed downstream of the yarn delivery device as seen in a yarn travel direction, and a yarn take-up device disposed downstream of the yarn guide devices. The yarn take-up device has a bobbin frame for carrying a cheese with a center of gravity. The bobbin frame is pivotable about a pivot shaft. A winding roller for engaging the cheese and rotating about an axis of rotation for guiding the yarn around the winding roller from a given path of the yarn traveling toward the cheese. At least one yarn breakage correcting device. A suction nozzle with an inlet mouth for retrieving a broken yarn having run up onto the cheese and an oblong slit for guiding the broken yarn to the breakage correcting device. The center of gravity of the cheese and the axis of rotation of the winding roller define an imaginary plane. The pivot shaft of the bobbin frame, the given path of the yarn at the winding roller, and the inlet mouth are all disposed on one side of the plane. Another side of the plane faces a free servicing and/or equipping and/or inspection space extending along the cheese winding machine.

    • A memory chip for storing information relating to an individual textile package and a device for manipulating the package and a chip reading device to access the information stored on the memory chip are provided. The memory chip can be loaded with individual package information such as, for example, the time, date and machine location at which the package was produced and the information can preferably be extinguished from the memory chip for loading of the memory chip with individual information concerning another package. To this end, the memory chip is preferably removably secured to the textile material or the tube of the textile package for subsequent removal for reuse on another package. The manipulating device moves the package and the chip reading device relatively to one another so that the chip reading device enters a reception area of predetermined size and location relative to the memory chip in which it can read, extinguish or supplement the information stored on the memory chip.

    • A tube support member conveying apparatus is provided for a textile machine which includes an unwinding device for unwinding packages of textile material such as yarn which is wound on tubes and a yarn end loosening assembly for loosening a yarn end on a yarn package to facilitate subsequent unwinding of the yarn therefrom. The tube of each yarn package is individually supported in a generally upright disposition on an independently movable tube support member. The tube support member conveying apparatus includes a conveying device for conveying the tube support members from a delivery assembly which delivers the tube support members for feeding to the unwinding device through an unwinding location at which the yarn packages are unwound by the unwinding device to a discharge assembly for transporting the tube support members to a further handling location. The conveying device supports each tube support member at the unwinding location in a predetermined disposition upstanding from the conveying device. Additionally, the tube support member conveying apparatus includes a tilt device selectively extendable into a position to effect tilting of the respective tube support member at the unwinding location so that the yarn is moved into contact with the yarn end loosening assembly for facilitating loosening of a yarn end therefrom.

    • The yarn cleaner (5) is designed for cleaning out defects from an effect yarn (1), which is formed from an alternating stringing together of webs and of effects comprised of given thickenings. The yarn cleaner has a measuring head (6) in which at least one yarn parameter is measured, whereby cleaning limits are determined for the yarn parameter, and the presence of a defect in the yarn is signaled when these limits are surpassed. The measured values of the yarn parameter are compared with the cleaning limits and intolerable defects are cut out from the yarn. The cleaning limits are each dependent on whether the values are measured in the web or in the effect. The yarn cleaner (5) is suited for keeping the desired diameter quality of effect yarn on winding and spinning winding machines.

    • An open end rotor spinning machine with plural workstations each having a spinning device for producing a yarn, a yarn take-off mechanism and a winding device for producing a cross-wound bobbin. The spinning device has a spinning rotor circulating in a spinning housing at high speed, a fiber band opening roller and a single motor-driven fiber band feed cylinder. The yarn take-off mechanism can be loaded by a single drive. Each workstation (2) has a mechanism (10) for defined cutting to length of a yarn (30) retrieved from the cross-wound bobbin (22), a storage mechanism (37) for receiving a specific yarn quantity and a drive mechanism (7) for lifting the cross-wound bobbin (22) from the bobbin drive roller (23). The drive (19) of the yarn take-off mechanism (18) can be reversibly driven. During the piecing process, a manually activatable control mechanism (9) activates the drive (19) of the yarn take-off mechanism (18), the drive (15) of the fiber band draw-in cylinder (14) and the drive mechanism (7) to lift the cross-wound bobbin (22) according to a predetermined piecing program.
