CONSTITUTION:A protective layer 11 which can be cured by radiations such as electron rays, UV rays, etc. and more particularly preferably UV rays is formed of a compd. which has the ester bond with (meth)acrylic acid in at least one of the molecular principal chain terminal and side chain, of which the number of said bond is 1-10 pieces for each 1,000mol.wt. and in which the skeleton of the principal chain is polyester, polyurethane, polycarbonate, polyether, epoxy resin or the mixture thereof on both front and rear surfaces along the peripheral edge of the central circular hole 10a of a flexible magnetic disk 10. The protective layer 11 is so formed that the surface roughness thereof has >=0.03mu average roughness of the centerline at cut off 0.25mm.. The disk 10a is thus loaded to the driving device without eccentricity and is driven without off-tracking, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To always execute magnetic field orientation processing to a coated film being in an immediately previous state of drying and solidification, by irradiating measuring light to the coated film, also measuring the reflected light quantity from the coated film, and controlling a drying means in accordance with its measuring result. CONSTITUTION:The reflected light quantity from a coated film holds a roughly constant value which is comparatively small under a state that the coated film is undried, increases suddenly and holds the maxinum value immediately before the drying is completed, and drops and holds a roughly constant value again when the drying is completed. Reflected light quantity signals S1, S2 and S3 outputted by three detecting devices 20, 30 and 40 are inputted to a drying means controlling circuit 50, and control valves 15, 16 and 17 are operated by valve control signals S11, S12 and S13 outputted from the controlling circuit 50 basing on these S1, S2 and S3. The controlling circuit 50 compares S1, S2 and S3, and adjusts an opening of the control valves 15, 16 and 17 so that S2 (the reflected light quantity of a point B) becomes more than S1 (the reflected light quantity of a point A) and S3 (the reflected light quantity of a point C), by which a coated film 5' being in an immediately previous state of completion of drying passes through the inside of an orientation magnet.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent the tape damage, by constituting a magnetic recording medium so that a coefficient of friction of the paired loading post axial direction in the width direction of the reverse side of a magnetic layer of a magnetic tape becomes a value which satisfies a specific relational expression to stiffness of a tape in the width direction.
      CONSTITUTION: In a VTR magnetic tape, in case of a tape whose whole thickness is ≤15.5μ it is manufactured so that a coefficient of friction μB of the direction of a paired loading post axis 2 in the width direction of the reverse side of a magnetic layer of a tape 1 satisfies the relation to stiffness in the width direction of the tape 1 as shown by the expression. The coefficient of friction μB is measured by bringing a tape whose width is 0.5 inch into contact with a loading post at a touch angle of 190W195 degrees, and in 200g load, 0.5mm/sec tape moving speed, 25°C measured atmosphere and 65% relative humidity. As for a tape satisfying said condition, the tape damage is improved remarkably, and it is excellent in durability and is suitable for high density recording.

    • PURPOSE:To surely prevent the occurrence of electrostatic charge by forming a magnetic tape supporting body with a prescribed material and making the surface characteristic of the supporting body to a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 19 is wound to a take-up reel 23 from a feeding reel 22 through a tape guide 1. The supporting body (base) of the tape 19 is formed by polyethylene telephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate. A surface resistivity value RS of the supporting body is made so that RS>=10 OMEGA/m . Moreover, the guide 1 is made of a stainless material or an aluminum material and the surface roughness of the outer peripheral of the guide 1 is set so that the height from the reference surface roughness value Rrms is made less than 60nm. By adjusting the surface resistivity value RS of the supporting body of the tape 19 and the surface characteristics of the guide 1, the electrostatic potential of the back surface of the tape 19 caused by the sliding motion of the guide 1 and the back surface of the tape 19 is controlled to less than -40V. Thus, the occurrence of electrostatic charge is surely prevented.
