摘要： A hot, particulate-laden process gas stream is cooled preparatory to cloth filtration treatment thereof by conducting said stream through a venturi-shaped conduit (20) adapted to cause acceleration of the stream to a Mach number of at least about 0.25. A plurality of streams of liquid water is introduced through means (27) transversely into the process stream in the region of the throat (24) of the venturi-shaped conduit (20), the rate of total water so introduced being sufficient to cool the process stream to the desired temperature. The cooled process stream can then be conducted into a cloth filtration device (15) wherein separation of the particulate component from the gaseous component is performed.

摘要： An improved process for preparing a carbon blackrubber masterbatch wherein an aqueous carbon black slurry is mixed with a rubber latex to obtain a uniform mixture which is creamed and wherein the creamed carbon black-latex mixture is coagulated with an aqueous acidified solution to yield a rubber crumb-containing solution from which the rubber crumb is separated, washed, dried and recovered and the serum recycled to the coagulating liquor, the improvement comprises introducing the carbon black slurry and the latex in the form of separate continuous streams to form a uniform mixture prior to creaming the resulting carbon black-latex mixture and coagulating the resultant creamed mixture by introducing the creamed mixture in the form of at least one coherent stream into a flowing stream of acidified coagulating liquor from the periphery of the steam of coagulating liquor in a direction substantially transverse to the axis of the stream of the coagulating liquor so as to cause the stream of the creamed carbon black-latex mixture to be sheared and atomized prior to the occurrence of coagulation.

摘要： Elastomeric compositions are produced by novel continuous flow methods and apparatus in which fluid streams of particulate filler and elastomer latex are fed to the mixing zone of a coagulum reactor to form a mixture flowing continuously from the mixing zone through a coagulum zone to a discharge end of the reactor. The particulate filler fluid is fed under high pressure to the mixing zone, such as to form a jet stream to entrain elastom er latex fluid sufficiently energetically to substantially completely coagulate the elastomer with the particulate filler prior to the discharge end. Semi- confined flow of the mixture in the coagulum zone is achieved preferably with progressively increasing cross-sectional dimension of the coagulum zone from the mixing zone to the discharge end. Highly efficient and effective elastom er coagulation can be achieved without the need for a coagulation step involvin g exposure to acid or salt solution or the like. In addition to elastomeric compositions comparable to those achievable using traditional acid or salt coagulation techniques, novel elastomeric compositions can be prepared employing previously unworkable fillers, such as carbon black of exceptional ly high surface area and low structure, etc., and/or having heretofore unachievable performance properties, filler dispersion levels, elastomer molecular weight distribution or a combination of any of these.
