    • A method and a communication network node for satisfying detection miss probability and false detection probability requirements in a random access channel used by mobile stations (MS) for accessing a communication network system comprising radio base stations (BS) each serving at least one cell (19). The method includes optimizing a random access channel, wherein the method performs estimating detection miss probability (P m) in said cell, tuning random access parameters such that said estimated detection miss probability satisfies predetermined requirements, estimating a false detection probability (P f) in said communication cell (19), tuning said random access parameters such that said estimated false detection probability satisfies predetermined requirements, and tuning said random access parameters such that an extensive interference caused by mobile stations attempting random access in said communication cell is avoided.

    • A method in a radio network node for identifying a candidate cell for handover of a user equipment is provided. The radio network node receives, from the user equipment, a first cell identifier associated with the candidate cell. The radio network node signals a cell identification request to at least one base station serving a cell using the first cell identifier. The cell identification request comprises a user equipment identifier associated with the user equipment (102), and requests any cell wherein the user equipment associated with the user equipment identifier can be detected. The radio network node receives a cell identification response comprising a second cell identifier associated with a detecting cell, 10 served by a detecting base station, wherein the user equipment associated with the user equipment identifier is detected. The radio network node then identifies the candidate cell based on the received second cell identifier.

    • The present invention relates to a method and a communication network node for enabling auto-tuning of preamble sequences used during random access procedures when user equipments (18) are accessing a communication network system comprising radio base stations (15) each serving at least one cell (19) and with which said user equipments (18) are communicating on uplink (13) and downlink (12) channels. An initial set of RACH preamble sequences in one cell of a radio base station (15) and statistics on RACH usage and information on identified RACH preamble sequences potentially conflicting between neighbours of said radio base station (15) is collected. The collected statistics is used for optimizing said set of RACH preamble sequences, whereby the initial set of RACH preamble sequences is replaced with the optimized set of RACH preamble sequences.

    • The invention relates to methods and arrangements for handling handover-related parameters. A radio base station of a mobile communications network is arranged to serve at least a first cell, and to make handover decisions based on handover-related parameters. The radio base station comprises means for receiving handover related feedback from a radio base station serving a second cell after handover of a UE from said first cell to said second cell; means for using the handover related feedback received from the base station serving said second cell to adjust the handover-related parameters; and further by means for sending handover related feedback to a radio base station serving a second or another cell after handover of a UE to said first cell from said second or another cell.
